Hi Ju...in my opinion if you are planning a mod for the osd, you can tray the osd on the right sid of the screen, like immersive skin. It is a sort off suggestion and basicalluy an opinion

First of all, i want to express my greatest admiration. I used Aeon Nox for quite a while, but as soon as i discovered your skin it blew me away. Such a fantastic design. You are doing a really great job.

Now that i am playing around with that skin i have some things on my mind:

1. When selecting the info screen of a movie the display of the second language flag looks strange:



2. When pausing a tv show episode the osd displays the episode thumbnail instead of the season/series poster.



3. Coming from Aeon Nox i am missing the option to automatically download artwork. In Arctic i have to manually select logo, cdart etc which is quite annoying. Maybe i am missing something?? Would love to have that function in Artcic as well.



4. When startig XBMC I'd like to have it focussed on the "movie"-category. The best startup-window option for me right now is "home window", however it is not perfect yet as it seems to open a random window

5. I want to ask if there is a possibility to show more of the movie/tv show fanarts? Meaning to set a higher transparency of the white overlayer?

EDIT: Forget about number 2, that was my mistake. Refreshed the tv shows and redownloaded artwork, works fine, however in the bottom and top left corner of the poster in OSD i see a white edge when the poster is black in that area.

First off loving the skin i am using it on 2 of the 3 xbmc machines i my house the reason i am not using it on the third as it is for a family member that likes to have custom shortcuts or favourites on the main menu bar for this they are using Confluence Custom Mod by Mudislander because i can take their specific folder that contains their movies and shows that they watch (reality tv crap mostly) and they can have that folder as a main menu option

i would like to request the ability to do this on Arctic to be able to add a favourite as a main menu button so you could have


Movie ---> TV Shows ----> Music -----> CUSTOM BUTTON -----> Pictures -----> System



An Option to add not just Favourites as menu icons but also have defined categories to choose to add like

Installed 0.3.6 last night and I'm not completely sold on the changes to the small info OSD. Don't mind the changes to the on screen controls OSD but I preferred the cleaner aesthetic of the original small info OSD in combination with the simplified seekbar see screenshots here http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid...pid1491912

The things that struck me as slightly off balance was the size of the info OSD (might be just me but is it bigger than the original small info OSD?), the on screen placement (justified more to the left than centred) and personally I find the addition of the side options unnecessary and distracting.

After a while of using it I reverted to the full length OSD which also enables the simplified seekbar option.

Interested to hear other opinions about the OSD changes.

I'd have to agree with this after taking some time to play around with these changes. I do miss the smaller version of the Full Length OSD

Nice work in progress. I must say this skin has the best animations i have seen. It feels so damn smooth.
About the design it is really nice and easy to use. I hope the homescreen will improve a bit. The recently added are a little small on my 32 inch.

Can you make the movie views available for the 'The Trailers' addon. It has only 2

Any chance of adding asian characters to the fonts? I had talked with Black a while back about adding them to Xperience1080 with success, he was able to pull them from the Droid Sans Fallback font as it was opensource and didn't conflict with his font's license. I'm not sure about your fonts.

Do you mean the big EPG (timeline) or the osd one that just shows the channel you are on? The EPG Timeline view you can press "info" on your remote. For pvrosdguide I don't think its possible - I checked confluence and it doesn't have an info screen for pvrosdguide. If you know any skins that do, I'll have a look at how they do it.

Noticed another small color oddity on the Dark Theme. Text Entry (one with keyboard). The description text for the field you are entering for and the text it self you enter is hard to see against the faded in edges.

1. Good catch. Was just a silly mistake on my part. Fixed in latest git (will be on wip skin repository later this week).

3. "Skin Settings > Addons > Update art after database update" - downloads artwork for newly scanned items according to your artwork downloader settings.

4. The focus on music was a bug, fixed in latest git. However, that menu that is showing up is the "power" menu you get from pressing down - it shouldn't be showing unless you press down? Do you have a mouse enabled by any chance?

5. You can modify the level of the white layer by modifying the relevant colour theme xml in skin.arctic/colors (e.g. Dark.xml if you use dark theme, Default.xml if you use the main one etc.). If you want to preserve the old one you can copy the file and rename it and it will show up in the colour themes under that name. You are looking for this entry:

1. You can modify any category to anything you like - if you are not using programs then modify that category. Go to "Skin Settings > Home > Manage custom home items". Press left and move to the unused category. The first item is the category (e.g. if you are on programs - the one that says "programs" rather than "item 1" "item 2" etc.). Enable it. Change the type to what you want (favourites, video playlist, custom etc.), then set the path and the name. The categories are limited to five because having any more than that causes a number of space issues.

I've made a few changes which I think make it a little better (centred on screen, removed additional side info options). The size of the posters are limited by the width of the screen - I would have to reduce the number visible and that means I would then have to further reduce the number of visible albums so that they were also a comparable size. You can always use the "new movies" or "new shows" submenu item (press up on the menu) to see them with a bigger library view instead.

Yeah I know about the lack of Asian characters. I've been meaning to clean up the fonts.xml in general, just haven't found the time. I'm sure there is some way to set a fallback font but I need to look into it a bit more. I will be adding them in the future, just not quite sure how to do it at the moment.

I was speaking more to the EPG timeline. for instance, if there's a sporting event, like football, it doesn't show the teams playing.
Or TV shows don't show the episode title. There's really nothing other than Title and description. It would be nice to see more info.

That would be great if that was possible, but unfortunately its not AFAIK. The listitem info labels xbmc provides for live tv are as follows: Title, Genre, Plot, Duration, Start Date, End Date, Start Time, End Time, Progress, Channel Name, Channel Number, Channel Group. -- and most of them are also available for the next item as well (e.g. ListItem.NextStartTime). -- but that's all there is. The information in those labels depends on where-ever xbmc gets the epg data from (for example I know tvheadend provides some options for where it gets the epg info). So I think it really comes down to whatever your particular pvr backend is.

Thanks for your very detailed answer. The other points work fine now. Concerning the power menu thing. I am using XBMC on my pc which has a mouse attached to it. However i open XBMC with my Logitech Harmony remote control (it presses F1 on the Keyboard actually to open XBMC). So no pressing down Sometimes it opens it right without the power menu but i can not reproduce it, it's random behaviour.

EDIT: I noticed that when i minimize XBMC (press windows key) and then maximize it again it presses up (when focussed on LiveTV it opens the menu with "TV Channel", "EPG", etc). Now i minimize and maximize again and he presses down so that the menu is gone again...Don't notice that behaviou with Aon Nox Skin, where i can press down for submenu as well

EDIT2: Activating the option "Open Submenu on click" does not solve that problem. The behavior is the same. So maybe its not a pressing up and down problem but something else?

The reason I ask is that I have a feeling that the mouse pointer is perhaps sitting near where the menu is hidden and causing it to open.
Can you go to "Settings > System > Input Devices" and disable the "Enable mouse and Touch Screen support" option. I just want to rule that out before I go digging through the skin code in search of answers..

You are the man! That solved the problem. Restarted XBMC 10 times now and it boots into the movie focus without submenu. Thanks a lot man.
