2 - XBMC must disagree with you Play disc should only show if you have a disc in the drive. What OS are you using ? Most the menu items can be changed --> Skin Settings --> Main Menu --> click on the item you want to change.

Another request for an option to disable this if possible.
I use this on pc's and pi's (my favourite skin since about 5 minutes after you posted it!). My windows pc's are fine - although I can imagine if I had something mounted in a virtual drive, which I do use now and again, it'd be an irritant. I'm also running Openelec3.2 on a Microserver, empty drive (just checked) and PlayDisc on the home screen.

Edit: After a night's sleep - physically opening and closing the drive had no effect. Opening it via xbmc and re-booting got rid of it. So as an irritant it's gone from about a 6 to a 1 (potentially a nuisance if I have drives mounted in windows, but not a big deal).
Still be nice to have the option to remove it though.

Was going to reply even before your edit, but got distracted Will put a toggle option on the to-do list as my openelec machine has been showing "Play Disc" lately for no reason.

Even the most basic remotes should have Play/Pause on a hard button (even if it is via the select/enter button), as well as normally some ffd/rwd/skip capability via the hard arrows, so normally there is no need to use the OSD for this (unless I am missing something?).

Whereas I dont think there is even any default keymap for the Subtitle 'Menu', so having it selectable as a default would be very useful

I had a quick look through the post because the search didnt bring me anything (must of not got the right search/phrase?), no matter because the play/pause button works on the other persons remote (they are getting the RPi/Xbmc device). Certainly not a show stopper, just wondered if it was simply editing a file and I just didnt know how to do it. Thanks for replying Mudislander.

As always jmh, thanks for the advice. Like I said to Mudislander, you were correct about the remote, it doesnt work on mine but did on the other persons. So i suppose is does make sense having a subtitle button easy accessible,

Came home today to find that one of my playlists is empty.

Had a playlist on the main menu for Movies. Rule is source is blah, blah, blah. Everything was working yesterday.

Today, when I click on the playlist, it says 0 Movies, and only shows "Up One Level".

Any ideas?

I've currently re-added the source and am scraping. But thus far, nothing shows up in that playlist, or even a new one I tried. Haven't checked in Confluence yet, but will do shortly.

Can someone help me to mod the weather button instead of the widgets popping up on hi light i want the weather to show the weather screen that when you click it shows full weather and all that? so just hi light and shows full weather screen and totally get rid of the click and widgets?

the skin is working great as always but it is like getting little presents when updates are released with lots of new shiny features to play with

I made a request a while back about having seperate Recent Widgets for Regular Movies and one for Bluray rips or even have it so you can have it show recent additions to a Smart Playlist as that is how i achieve have my Bluray Movies menu with a custom Smart Playlist

I am not sure if it is the same thing but i noticed when i select the submenu then press right on the remote to go the next submenu item the first time i press it it makes the click sound but does not move it sometimes takes a second press or third even to get it to switch

this has become a little annoying because if you are basically switching to an item out of muscle memory you press down once then right once and enter but if this doesn't work and does as i said you go into the wrong menu item before you know it

well i can confirm this behaviour...the same is happening on my machine. maybe the crashes also have something to with this

Haven't seen the problem with moving across submenu on my main media centre, but will try to emulate.

Re the recent blurays, if you're using a playlist for blurays then use the "Playlist" widget with the script set to recent not random items.

I do have to do an update as a few bugs from last couple of pages, but mod is on the back burner ATM as working on a Hybrid rewrite for Gotham. Basics nearly done then can come back & update this Mod

I would just like to say - thanks - this mod makes xbmc almost complete for me. Being a convert from win7 media centre i found xbmc on win7 to be great. I have now moved to xbmcbuntu and its even better, it boots and shuts donn more quickly and it seems to perform much better (more responsive) ccm was the first thing that got loaded on after the rebuild.

I have 2 things, one is i think user error, the other, is something i couldn't figure out

with the main menu backgrounds I would love to see fanart behind a custom menu items, is it possible to select just the fanart from films included in that menu option?? I have a few folders and i have set them as video nodes when adding menu items for instance "mum &dad films" and xmas films can i set it so that fanart from only the items in this node can be seen in the main menu background?

the second one is i think user error :-) if i go into "family" i see my films listed if i press on the film it starts to play.

With my mum & dad films video node when i go into it i see the screen with the film list (but it doesnt select as Media info 3 (my favoured layout) it only offers the lists, if i then select the film, it takes me down to the folder level and shows the film details - i then have to click again to play the film. i think its simple (Iand i think i had it set before but i cannot get it to work. While it is set as a video node i have also added the folder as a film folder in "files"

One last thing whats the criteria for "family" films? there are a couple that i want to remove from it (family films for us is mainly disney etc as the oldest of our 3 girls is 5) I am guessing it is certificate? (I am in the UK)

Howzit, if you like xbmcbuntu and want a dedicated media centre you should look at OpenElec, in my opinion even better

Difficult to set backgrounds as requirements, but with some manual work it is possible. You'd have to make folders for the images of each group eg a "Mum & Dad Fanart" folder and a "Xmas FanArt" folder. Manually copy a bunch of fanart into each folder and the go into Backgrounds under skin settings and select the appropriate folder for each menu item. Not ideal & not automatic - but it should work. As an after thought you may be able to find some sort of sync program to automatically sync background images to the correct folders ?

With your Video node problem it sounds like they're not being recognised as movies in the database. Maybe try a different approach and use Playlists instead of nodes. In my opinion much more reliable and easier to set up. The Family option provided is a playlist.

Re the Family option - it's based on the genre being family. Maybe a little too lax for very young girls ? Again I'd suggest doing your own playlist or there is a childrens playlist with the skin should be under the presets when changing a menu option from the skin settings.

Thanks for that. I didn't look at openelec will have a gander at it.

Wrt fan art I did actually use your suggestion on the old box, but I had problems getting just the fan art out of the image folders so I copied the images from the image folders created when I used media centre and mymovies also of course it just wasn't dynamic.i will have a think.

I will look at playlists thanks!
