What version of MediaPortal you use?
what version of XBMC TV SERVER version you use?
how long did you live TV tested?

with 12.2 Frodo and fast channel switching is active is not bug free for me , if you longer than 20 minutes look the same channel ones and change to another channel comes the Timeshift messed then see the same TV what I started watching 20 minutes ago.
It only works optimal with "fast channel switching" active. The 12.2 bug with switching to another channel after (in your case) 20 minutes should be fixed in the official Gotham builds and this build.
If not, let me know...

I agree, I think the TS reader had been broken since Alpha 6, maybe 7 also... but with Alpha 8, TS had been working again (but with slow channel change).

I have fast channel change enabled and RTSP off.
Good to hear. Thanks for testing!

Yes it was broken before alpha 8 due to some internal changes in XBMC. XBMC does not accept \\UNCshare names anymore on the PVR interface, so I had to change the PVR addon to send them as smb:// shares..

can anyone provide an ffprobe log ($time ffprobe [channel-url] -debug 0x1) of a channel with slow switch times?
I recognize huge differences between different channels I have and another log would be interesting.
thx

@whaupt: FYI: the MediaPortal TV streams are directly read from the timeshift buffer file, so they don't have an URL.
Which information are you looking for? Only the contained streams or also the probe times.

OK, thx don't have PVR in use, I have udp multicasts for the channels.
But anyway it would be interesting what ffprobe outputs on PVR stuff and how long it takes.
If this is even possible...

I have been using Margo's builds since the beginning and they have always been very reliable for me. Currently I am using MePo Server 1.5, but have always used the current versions.

I have never had the problems that you are describing.
Is it possible for you to monitor your server while you are testing?
Can you watch the time-shift folder to see what is happening?
After 20 minutes you should have 6 TS files... Do they get deleted when you change channel?

Do you have any errors in the Server log?
Can you open your server config/manual control and watch while you test. Does the channel change as expected?

I have been testing a little as I write this... What method are you using to change channels? Using the arrow keys or "0" (to toggle last channel) the .ts files are not deleted and this is example of Margos fast channel change working correctly.

But what happens when you use the EPG-Timeline to change channels? As far as I can tell this bypasses fast channel change and the .ts files are deleted. (channel change is still very fast, maybe 2 or 3 seconds to finish buffering). Do you still have the problem using this method of channel change?

The 1.4 plugin is fine for both MediaPortal 1.4 and 1.5.

Are you running the TVServer and XBMC on the same PC?

If the answer is "yes" =>
enable debug logging under "Settings, System, Debugging".
Try to tune several channels and check your XBMC.log file for PVR related hints or errors.
If this does not help, post your debug XBMC.log on http://xbmclogs.com/ and the link to your log file here.

If the answer is "no, my TV Server backend is on a different PC" =>
According to your TVServer screenshots, you did not share your time shift and recordings folders.
The TVServerXBMC shares tab shows only local paths which are not accessible from other PC's.
Share both your I:\ and D:\Record folder and make sure that you can access these shares folders on the XBMC PC.

Can you use network paths instead of local paths for your time-shift folder?

Even on a single seat set-up (MePo server and XBMC on same computer), I set mine up as if it was a remote client.

Will see if I can generate a few ffprobe logs from the MediaPortal timeshift buffer files in the coming weeks on multiple PC's and for different channels (SD, HD).
I will also include the the switching times from my MediaPortal backend, to give a better view of the time spend by the backend v.s. ffmpeg probing time.

Ah, now I see what the problem is. The double \\ after the drive letter triggers by accident the \\UNC => smb:// path translation.
Could you try to move the timeshift share to a subfolder of I:\ like I:\timeshift and try again or try @t-magnus' suggestion?

I will have to fix the addon for this particular case. Thanks for sharing the log.

Hey Margro

it is possible a native iMON VFD / LCD displays support.? the user has the Eduard K deposited in his build (DSPLAYER Developer)
you are allowed to embed the code in your build?
That would be really good so would welcome some users!
