[CLOSED] Advanced Launcher - Applications Launcher Addon for XBMC
(2013-11-01, 15:06)jenowar Wrote: Thanks for the answer.

Here it is

Code:
...
<application>/storage/emulators/mame/roms/SNES/Emulator/Snes9x_1.53_7889.tar.bz2</application>
...

Applications must not be compressed archives. You need first to install applications on your system to be able to start them using the command line. You may found additional information here : http://openelec.tv/forum/128-addons/3861...-emulators
Has the most recent update broken Advanced Launcher for anyone else? when I try to run Advanced Launcher (either through a shortcut on the home screen, or through the add-on menu) I get the error message "script failed-addon.py'. I first noticed this today. I'm running Frodo 12.2.

Due to the fact that the last version of Advanced Launcher has removed the MobyGames scappers, if your Advanced Launcher settings was set to use the MobyGames scrapper, you could have an error. Close XBMC, try to rename or delete the xbmc/userdata/addon_data/plugin.program.advanced.launcher/settings.xml file then restart XBMC. The problem would must be fixed.

If i understand well, i must download the .zip file of the emulator (ie Mednafen), install it as an add on and then create a launcher which point to the installed add on ? (if correct, what is the folder where i can fin the installed add on ? I cant figure out how to go there with the files explorer of OE...

Thank a lot !

As far I understand it, you can only install on Openlec, emulators that are supported/compiled for OpenElec and that are present into the openelec-emulators repository. I'm not sure if Snes9x is part of these supported emulators. If not, the only way you have will be to try to compile the Snes9x sources for the OpenElec distribution. And I don't think it will be easy (otherwise it will be already part of the repository).

BTW, your actual problem is related to the installation of 3rd party applications (emulators) on the OpenElec linux distribution. This problem is actually not related to XBMC or Advanced Launcher but only to the OpenElec operating system. You will surely have a better support by asking your questions on the OpenElec dedicated forums.

Try this for emulators in OE:

All right Smile

Thank you so much for the help !
Does Advenced Launcher work with Raspberry Pi? I trier Raspbmc and stand alone xbmc deb package. When i add laucher for ScummVm or x64 and try to run it i got in logs:
Code:
22:04:23 T:2787111952  NOTICE: -->Python Interpreter Initialized<--
22:04:23 T:2812277776  NOTICE: [plugin.program.advanced.launcher] Initialisation
22:04:23 T:2812277776 WARNING: Attempt to use invalid handle -1

Programs are run but ... they are in background. XBMC is still in front. How to solve this? I run XBMC from LXDE.

Just tried with .sh scripts - didn't help vice and scummvm are started in background. I use xbmc from http://michael.gorven.za.net/raspberrypi/xbmc with latest advenced launcher :/ Tested from lxde and from xbmc-standalone. I must admit that until i kill x64 or scummvm manually via ssh xbmc is unresponsive.

Both apps runs flawessly from console and from inside lxde Sad It looks like xbmc takes over overlay and stays in front.

Ok... different way of investigation :
  • You can try to force XBMC to go into window mode. Select a launcher > Go into its context menu ("C" key) > Edit Launcher > Advanced Modifications > and put Toggle XBMC into Windowes mode to ON. This will force XBMC to not stay into fullscreen before starting the application.
  • You can add a delay before starting the application. Some time, on low configs, XBMC is slow to quit the focus. For this go into Advanced Launcher settings > Miscellaneous > Delay > Then increse the value to 5000 or 10000. Like this XBMC will way 5 or 10 seconds before starting the application. If it's working, decrease the delay value to have it the lowest possible without having the black screen.
Now I have a question. What is the difference between the official linux version of XBMC and XBMC for Raspberry Pi? Does something has been removed form the original version? Or it is just a compiled version for Raspbian?
I got:
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/594/gx3d.jpg/
with script:
Code:
#!/bin/bash
killall -STOP xbmc.bin
openbox &
/usr/games/scummvm
killall -9 openbox
killall -CONT xbmc.bin

Are you sure openbox is installed on your system? According to your screenshot, XBMC is windowed, but I did not see any windows top bar controls that must appears if XBMC is started under openbox.
Is there a tool or editor to auto-discover games? I have 200+ games installed (yes, all payed :-)), but i'm lazy to go trough the menus.
Any hints?

Thx,
DocMAX

Openbox-Message: Window manager is already run on display0

This is my translation becouse i use polish locale. Have to switch back to US. OK. LXDE desktop enivornment i working on top of OpenBox window manager.
