Seems like you should be able to the number of that channel and the TimeLine EPG will jump directly to it.

So I use ServerWMC for antenna TV in Seattle and have always had problems with three channels: 7.1, 7.2 and 13.1 (virtual channels). They work fine in WMC, but in ServerWMC, I get the "Streamfile (ts) doesn't exist" error. I had pretty much written off the channels in XBMC and use WMC to watch them, waiting for a version of ServerWMC with a potential fix.

Then I noticed that these same three channels wouldn't record in WMC. Each time I tried to record those channels, I would get a "no signal" error, which was bizarre, since the channels came in very clearly. So I started looking into that error and stumbled across this:

Gist is, WMC had put both the main transmitter for each channel (strong signal) and a local transmitter (weak signal) as a source for the virtual channel (example, virtual channel 7.1 used channels 39 (main), 26 and 51 (both local transmitters)). For some reason, while watching, WMC would use the main, strong signal and while recording, it would use the local, weak signal, causing it to fail.

So I used the solution in the link and WMC works perfectly, the three channels record without a hitch. Problem is, ServerWMC still has the same error as before, so I wonder if ServerWMC is still trying to use the weak signals, even though WMC should no longer be reporting them.

Any thoughts on this error or how to solve it?

Krusty any way to make sure only 1 instance of the service can run? I use this in conjunction with xbmclauncher and sometimes get two instances running with the port is in use error.

Hi guys, just getting around to checking in on this thread after a long while. It looks like some major progress has been made. I just took a quick read through the Wikis. I have not yet tried this yet. A couple of questions/suggestions:

1) How does this compare to using the native WMC UI? (pros/cons)

2) If you have your WMC server connected directly to a TV, are you still opting to use WMC on that TV and switching over to XBMC for movie playback, etc., or are you happily using XBMC with this plug-in 100% of the time, even when you have the option of going with the native WMC UI?

3) How does using this on a client compare to, say, using an XBox 360 as a media center extender? (pros/cons)

4) I'm currently using Plex Media Server on my WMC server to manage all of my movie metadata, and then use XBMC w/PleXBMC in another room. I'm using the Quartz skin there, because it supports PleXBMC great and I like its simpler UI. Any special considerations/issues with this setup?

5) Are any of the low-power/inexpensive boxes capable of stutter-free MPEG-2 HD playback? (e.g., ATV2, Raspberry Pi, etc.)

Stiefelland - Thanks for the ATV builds. They're great! Had Frodo up and running on mine in no time. Do you have yours setup to stream HD channels? Have you been able to do so without stuttering on ethernet? I am trying to get a yes or no on HD channels nailed down for the wiki. I have not had success but don't want to publish any documentation based on just my experience.

Problem 2: Slow to start channels & Channel swapping

Please don't paste long log files (especially when most of it is one line repeated over and over), just post the entire log on pastebin.com and put the link here. I can't tell from the piece of the log you posted what is going on. If you can, first see if you can just play the channel you are trying to switch to directly. If it really turns out that this problem only happens when you try to switch channels, please start the server do the channel switch and after it fails post the full log per the instructions above.

As to improving channel switch speed, most people use margro's build of xbmc for that, so far as I know.

I think this means the client is not finding the 'ts' file, this usually happens because the client can't get access to the shared 'recorded tv' that wmc/serverwmc uses. So check that, also credentials. If you still can't resolve it, post the server log.

Never realized this could be a problem. I implemented it this morning (it was surprisingly not as straight forward in wpf as you might think). It will be in the next release.

As for running as a service, I am hoping scarecrow will find time to do this once his life gets out of the way. I would really like to see this too.

Recently this issue, in one form or another, keeps coming up - its funny how this stuff seems to come in waves. After you made the 'fix' in wmc and you say serverwmc still has the problem, do you mean the server still has the problem with live-tv or the server still can't record those channels? Its important, because as far as recording goes - your settings in wmc should work even if the recording is requested by xbmc. If its just a live-tv issue after the fix, then its a known problem on my side that I know I need to fix (probably next). So yeah, please let me know.

1) not has fast or as robust (yet). It also can't play drm'd sources. Its main benefits are that is allows you to use xbmc without switching to wmc and it enables a server/client operation to wmc.

2) I only use xbmc.

3) Since its enables you to use xbmc as the player, it is far more capable then an extender. But never really relied on an extender so I can't say in detail.

4) I can't say much here, except to point out that to enable series recording from xbmc you will need to edit two dialog windows for the quartz skin in order to use them (or ask the author to). See the wiki for more.

5) ATV2 we have had very little feedback on, but techlife reports hd is not working well for him. r-pi seems to work.

Hey Krusty, I think I may have found another bug. The fix you provided for the aac audio got everything working for my colossus cards. However when playing live tv or a recording I cannot zoom in xbmc. I think this might have something to do with the colossus recording in x264. My qam cards zoom everything just fine (Live TV or recordings), I believe they are using mpeg. The family still watches some things on the sd channels so the zooming is an issue. Trying to keep the WAF high. I sent you 2 video clips a little while ago when you were troubleshooting the aac audio issue. One clip was from a colossus recording while another was from a qam recording. If you still have those, maybe you could take a look? Thanks! If you need me to test anything I would be happy too!

Recently this issue, in one form or another, keeps coming up - its funny how this stuff seems to come in waves. After you made the 'fix' in wmc and you say serverwmc still has the problem, do you mean the server still has the problem with live-tv or the server still can't record those channels? Its important, because as far as recording goes - your settings in wmc should work even if the recording is requested by xbmc. If its just a live-tv issue after the fix, then its a known problem on my side that I know I need to fix (probably next). So yeah, please let me know.

The server still has problems with live-tv (and thus recording too) with those channels. I figured it might be a different problem than others were having, since it was somewhat relevant to an issue WMC was having.

I look forward to the fix, but out of curiosity, what is the gist of the problem that you've diagnosed? Is it somewhat related to the dual source issue WMC was having?
