[CLOSED] Advanced Launcher - Applications Launcher Addon for XBMC
Maybe like how aeon nox has comics implemented as a separate picture viewer?

Maybe, but it 's not at all how Advanced Launcher is actually working. You ask for a directory based items (like XBMC files browser) when Advanced Launcher is based on content (like XBMC library mode). If you want a support like that, it will be more simple to create anew dedicated add-on than of rewrite Advanced Launcher from start (and keep it compatible with previous versions of Advanced Launcher).
I'd like to use AL to launch World of Warcraft on my HTPC (under Wine, of course). My OS is Ubuntu 13.10. I have searched through this thread but still seem to be completely lost. Can anyone help me out with getting this set up?

It is possible to start an application with wine with a command line like this :

Code:
wine "c:\program files\internet explorer\iexplore.exe"

where c:\program files\internet explorer\iexplore.exe is the virtual windows path to the application you want to start. So if you want to start World of Warcraft, the command line will be something like this (I'm not sure at all it is the rightl path) :

Code:
wine "c:\program files\World of Warcraft\WoW.exe"

So into Advanced Launcher you just have a to create a stand alone launcher with theses parameters :

Application: /usr/bin/wine
Arguments: "c:\program files\World of Warcraft\WoW.exe"

Instead of using the virtual windows path, you can also use the real linux path. It will be something like this : ~/.wine/drive_c/program_files/World of Warcraft/WoW.exe. You will found additionnal information concerning Wine and World of Warcraft here : http://www.wowwiki.com/World_of_Warcraft...ty_on_Wine
So I finally tried this with PPSSPP (a really good PSP emulator for Windows) and my only problem is the sound won't start right away. I have to press Escape to access the Emulator's menu, stop the game, and reload it, and then it's fine. There's nothing about it on the Wiki, and I'm wondering if anyone has had any luck?

Also, just fyi to anyone else, I find that checking the "Toggle XBMC's Windowed Mode" works better when quitting the emulator.
Chappasmith - also had that happen when I launched a browser. Lost sound. Switched browsers and it worked. Guess you might need to experiment with the launcher and command line parameters for the app you launch.

I could be related to the fact that the XBMC audio engine takes around 10 seconds to release the audio and let other started applications use it. If not already done, have you tried, both, to desactivate the XBMC navigation sounds?
I have now the Problem that the Advanced Launcher loose all of its settings. This happens only with the zsnes Emulator. I scroll down the Roms with Gamepad and one Button pressed. If I press another Button simultaneously it scrolls faster. If I now select a game, the Emulator starts. But when I exit the Emulator and return to Advanced Launcher, all of my settings including pictures are gone ! I can replicate this every time. This happens on 2 Computer with Windows XP / Frodo 2.2 / ADVL 2.1
How can I restore my settings ?

Normally the problem happen randomly when you add/edit/modify a categorie, a launcher or an item. It's the first time, somenone report me the problem when only browsing the items. To restore settings, go into Advanced Launcher settings > Advanced > Backup Options > Import XML file (restore backup) > Then select the file corresponding to you last modification. Files naming convention is : YYYYMMDD-HHMMSS-MILLISEC-launchers.xml. Then your categories/launchers/items list will be automatically restored. I will try on my side to reproduce the problem. Which buttons are you pressing pressing exactly? What is your Gamepad, mapping?
Version 2.2.0 : This new version of Advanced Launcher fix notifications that were not showing the Advanced Launcher icon, but instead, the previous icons use by the system. Also a big code cleaning have been done with this version, with the revrite of the launchers.xml load/save options. Advanced Launcher is now slightly more faster on these tasks, but, unfortunately, this rewrite still not able fix the bug of launchers.xml file corruption. This version also change the dependance of python from 2.0 to 2.1. So, Advanced Launcher will be not compatible with the future version of XBMC (Gotham).

Changelog :
  • Fix XBMC notification icon display.
  • Rewrite launchers.xml load/save functions.
  • Code cleaning.
  • Change python dependence to version 2.1.

Could you please post here the content of your launchers.xml file (using pastebin service), so I will be able to reproduce your problem on my system and try to found a way to fix it. Actually I'm not able to reproduce this problem on system. I suspect that your launchers.xml file was previously corrupted, and with the new version, which is more restrictive... you obtain now a error message. But I need to verify first.
Hmm hopefully this is the correct thing you were asking for.

No. I was asking for the xbmc/userdata/addon_data/plugin.program.advanced.launcher/launchers.xml file.

Maybe one thing you can try is to rollback Advanced Launcher to version 2.1.0. Edit one of your launchers (by renaming one of them for example). It will save the launchers.xml file with proper format. Then reinstall version 2.2.0 of Advanced Launcher.
Rollback was greyed out, will try to find the other file.

Btw if i have to redo this again, do you have your youtube video showing how to set up a web browser, I remember that helped get this working when i did it awhile back but im having trouble locating it.

The bat file its pointing to works fine, its just advanced launcher giving me that error whenever i try to click on it and create a launcher or use this existing one to launch chrome.

I can access the settings for it yet, but as far as simply clicking on the program, it spits out that error now.
