[CLOSED] Advanced Launcher - Applications Launcher Addon for XBMC
Hello everyone!

I have searched anywhere but can't find a solution to the following issue:
MAME's Roms doesn't generate/read/use cfg files while using Advanced Launcher. Using the command line does by the way.

I am using OpenElec 4.0.2, Advanced Launcher 2.5.2 and retroarch 3.2.4.2014-03-12.

Thank you for reading this :cheer:

I will take a look. Maybe something has been changed on the Comic Vine website, and the scrapper need to be updated.

(2014-05-23, 15:16)Bazzu85 Wrote: Another question..
Why if I name manga like this "Fairy tail #01" the scraper don't found anything? Is a issue about zero?
Yes, filenames must be as close as possible as than the title displayed into Comic Vine. Comic Vine search engine is really strict

News?
Hi Angelscry, my humble gratitude for your most awesome Advanced Launcher add-on!

This is my first time attempt at using Advanced Launcher. Having challenges with "Script Failed" errors when attempting to run PC Games. I have looked extensively at the wiki, manual, forum and assorted tutorials, and as best as I can tell I'm properly configuring the tool.

XBMC 13.0
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit
Advanced Launcher 2.52

Please see the following XBMC log in Pastebin: http://pastebin.com/C73U2GGJ

Thanks in advance for all, and let me know if you require anything further in assessing the error.

Best,

George

Seems that there is something wrong with your launcher configuration. Could you please post also the content of your launcher.xml file?
Sure thing, thanks for the amazing response time!

As you do not need to pass any argument into the started application (because you are using them as stand alone launcher), leave blank the arguments parameter (just delete the "%rom%" value).

Where is installed mame on your system? Into /usr/bin ?

Does the roms, ini and cfg paths are set correctly into mame.ini path? Does the XBMC user have the rights to read"write into thoses directories?

Thanks, but regrettably same result "Script Failed!".

It could be also possible that MAME is not able to found the mame.ini file at startup and so it is not able the get all the right paths to work properly.
You can try to start MAME using the -inipath "~/.mame/ini" argument depending where is located the default mame.ini.

So your launcher argument could be : -inipath "~/.mame/ini" "%rom%"

OK, I think I'm on to something. Interestingly, I experimented with Windows Calculator (calc.exe) instead of one of the games.

If I create a new launcher for calc.exe from "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CALC.EXE" (WORKS!) Smile
If I create a new launcher for calc.exe from "D:\XBMCPREP\GAMES\CALC.EXE" ("SCRIPT FAILED!") Sad

Note that my games are all installed on my "D" drive. If I go into Windows Explorer and launch any of my game executables directly from their D: install directory they launch fine.

Hope this helps you to see a solution for me.

Thanks!

George

- confluence, nox, aeon me - all have this issue.
- tried various options in adv launcher - toggle to window, show batch. None help.
- have the XBMc window minimized, start external app manually. All is good.
- have XBMC in a window without focus start external app manually. All is well.

It worked fine with the exact same OS and external apps in previous version of XBMc and Advanced launcher.

This also is windows 7.

Not too sure where to go from here. Ideas? Might disable all addons to see if there are conflicts. Mike, did you get this fully resolved?

While it waits for the connection to establish, it runs in a small window, and the songs will play as they should, so I need to work out how to stop the app from going full screen I guess.

This is driving me nuts!

Mike
Do you have the same probleme if you use the "fullscreen window" rather than "true fullscreen" option that is present into XBMC video settings?

So I was running in fullscreen windows all the time -- tried an actual window and didn't see any change (still did not work). A few other things about teh external application (just in case they matter):
- Using autoit to execute.
- Using LaunchXBMC as a shell and it has been set NOT to give XBMC focus when launching this external app.
- App it launches via a favorite in a sub-menu of the main XBMC pages.

I do see errors in the log as follows (this is a successful launch of an external slideshow which continues playing the existing song then stops at the end). It almost seems as if the player is trying to run the launcher as the next song perhaps?

Cheers, Tony.

P.S. Lifesaver application -- helps integrate media XBMC can not handle too well.

So quick update on progress -- it seems to work FINE when launching from within Advanced Launcher rather than from sub-menu of Main Menus (via a favorites shortcut). I'll dig deeper into the XML to see what's up.

SOLVED! So the issue was basically teh skins when you add a favorite as a sub menu use the 'PlayMedia' builtin. If you change this in the XML to 'PlayPlugin' this fixes this issue. See below for changes I made in guisettings.xml.

BEFORE (Stopping after 1 song):

<setting type="string" name="skin.aeonmq5.menu0902.path">PlayMedia("plugin://plugin.program.advanced.launcher/?70d8a32560ab0adcedb348a0fcd829ba/77529a6a01e1bfff5bc0a2796742557e",return)</setting>

AFTER (Keeps playing songs):

<setting type="string" name="skin.aeonmq5.menu0902.path">RunPlugin("plugin://plugin.program.advanced.launcher/?70d8a32560ab0adcedb348a0fcd829ba/77529a6a01e1bfff5bc0a2796742557e",return)</setting>

Thanks for the help -- hope this helps others. NOt sure what the old NOX did in Eden but this same approach worked there fine.

Cheers, Tony.
The problem is that XBMC only manage media by default. So when you have an item (that is not a folder), the favourite script automatically identify it as a media and so use the PlayMedia() fonction as default. It is not a skin problem but a favourite script problem.

They are real installs on D: drive or you just copy/paste form C: drive to D: drive. Because the error is due to the fact that because the executable files are not located into the dedicated windows folders (Program Files, Programs, etc...), they are not recognized as an authorized windows application and so cannot properly been started form python using the popen function. This problem do not appear for windows version prior to version 7.

Thanks for the reply.

Hmmm....I did not copy the files...when I ran the install program for the games it asked me where I wanted them installed and I provided the "D:\XBMCPREP\GAMES" directory. Does that mean that under Windows 7, in order for my games to work with Advanced Launcher I must install them into the C:\Program Files (x86) directory? That will require some restructuring of my storage system but is possible.

Best,

George
