Thanks for the feedback guys they have definitely not convinced me either. Just to be clear though those were never meant as a replacement to the shelf. Just an intermediate step so that the widget itself could stay hidden until called. So they're more notifications in that way letting you know there's "stuff under there"
I have gone through several other setups since, and they all fail in terms of usability, flexibility or performance. So chances are I'll end up keeping the shelf more or less as-is. And that's basically ok, but like I said before that means scrapping other plans.
Sorry but I'm not entirely sure I know what you mean. Say I'm on the tv shows main menu item and I press left, what would happen? I assume you don't mean actually opening the library window?
It doesn't sound like it will solve the issues causing me to look for a different solution in the first place, but who knows it will spark something
