I plan on releasing some tutorial videos to help noobs.

What features are you saying needs improvement?

One good idea would be .. When its in autotune or parsing there is a square window with the button option cancel right?if it gest stuck. The only option is to cancel and start all over again.add the option that if an channel or addon takes more than 50 seconds there would be a 2nd button that would say skip only that channel or addon and continue auto tune the rest , 2 buttons inside the scuare, cancel-skip, and a message confirming the user has decided to disable that channel or addon!! Eliminate that problem!!

And have your own repo! With everything necessary modules plugins etc,

And enable options like normal/ advanced/ expert when you first try the program, that way a newbie wont get confused with so many options

Double dialog isn't possible...

My own repo with modules, this doesn't make sense when the modules I use are already available (almost all of them) through the official xbmc repo.

Not sure I want triple options for different level users, but thanks for the suggestions.

I think the best advice for noobs would be if something doesn't work, either post a log or stop using the problematic feature (ie autotune). Auto tuning isn't forced... You can always either uninstall the offending plugin or chose a different auto tune option.

if you want things to work 100% create your own custom settings, and stop using autotune Smile

Also if you find a community list item is causing problems, signup for the community list and edit the problematic setting... don't wait for me to get around to it... you mentioned the cnet plugin, but you never signed up to the community list to fix it...

When you first start the app from a fresh install the first thing you see is a window asking if you want pseudo to auto tune, if you press no then you are in a situation that unless you have knowledge the app wont work! Have some channels preinstalled then!!

Being off this week Ive had some extra time and have been testing 4.07, 4.08, and 4.09...After trying them on all three of my machines and with various different combinations of XBMC/PTVL skins I've gone back to 4.07 and I'll explain why...

The difference in overall speed and smoothness between 4.07 and the two newer versions is pretty huge. After a single running of the Artwork Spooler as you scroll through the EPG the dynamic artwork loads without any noticeable lag. I put a dummy landscape.jpg file under the dynamic artwork to test it and on 4.07 I would only see the landscape.jpg file for less than a second (if that).

With the exact same settings after a single running of Artwork Spooler, On 4.09 there is a pretty heavy lag for the Dynamic Artwork as you scroll through the EPG. That same Landscape.jpg file would be fully visible for 3-4 seconds and sometimes longer.

Similar lag situation with the info overlay as well.

On 4.07 tapping the "I" key would display/hide the overlay instantly.

On 4.09 tapping the "I" key displays the overlay instantly but it takes more than a few seconds for it to hide it again.

Other bugs I've noticed on 4.09 are Artwork Spooler seems to run almost constantly and despite creating a backup settings2 file i've noticed significantly more "no channels found" errors.

4.09 did upgrade the amount of art displayed since now interleaved youtube videos display art which is great and also the "Reset Every X Days" rule coming back is also great, but having said that, in my experience 4.07 runs so much smoother than 4.09, hope this doesn't sound negative though because Im sure once the bugs are ironed out in 4.10 that version will be great.

Use the app with a regular box, i mean i have no problems with my pc but there are thousands of people ditching pcs for the convenience of boxes, i mean just an observation if you want this addon to become mainstream!! Some times i think im waisting my time, i mean it works on my latest pc, but im speaking on behalf of 75% people that want the convenience of a cable cutter in a box ! Anyways somebody else will realize there is a market for this and do it right!

Dude...first you do know there are other forms of punctuation besides exclamation points right? Second Luna saved this addon when Jason abandoned it, show some respect. If you want to know about "doing it right" as you call it, go check out the original PseudoTV and see how ancient and outdated it is, then come back here, appreciate how much time and work goes into this addon, show some respect. and maybe, just maybe try to contribute something to this addon. Luna's always asking for people to help manage the community list, and since that is clearly something you are using perhaps you can get involved with that?

either that or ya know...just keep coming back and yelling about how this addon needs to be geared toward android boxes.
To your credit , you are the only one trying!! Very brave!! Very imaginative but i know you have the capacity of making this thing the ultimate istream , navxkiller!!

haha you are right I am very selfish, I mean what have I ever contributed to this project?? lol...And for the record my current WIP skin is definitely not designed with Android users in mind, but you need a decently powerful PC to run it. Also you need to be able to edit an XML file to run because of the customization...Crazy I know, but I don't believe everything needs to be geared toward the small minority of users that are on Pi's and Matricom boxes.

Also for what it's worth I have a FireTV and PTVL runs just fine on it...I just know to lower my expectations on a weak low-power device like that.

Sometimes, I don't receive the notice that the spooling is finished. If i do exit out of pstvl without seeing this notice. I've notice that when I try then to exit out of XBMC all together it will crash. Just like to add that I'm not using any plugins just my local files and my hdhomerun prime channels. I too don't want to sound negative and I didn't want to go back in versions, since .049 seems to parse the xmltv files for me a little faster. Thanks again for all that you do.

Lunatixz,

It's been a couple of months since i last had time for PTVL. Happy to see all the progress, especially like the extended youtube functions. Thank you for your great work and progress.

Unfortunatly i have an annoying bug to report which makes 24/7 internet streams unusable:

When I add 24/7 internet streams to PTVL (no EPG, just a stream, chtype 9), when i change the channel to such a channel in PTVL, PTVL will seek in the Live Stream. For example PTVL seeks 1:31 in to the future. Since this ofcourse doesn't exists since it's a live stream, the stream will just hang on 1 still image. I can still change channels and PTVL is still responding. When i change the channel a few times back and forward, the live stream will eventually work. So it's not that PTVL will seek in the live stream 100% of the time.

I've seen the same problem posted a few pages back, but i've not seen a solution. Is there a setting or something i'm missing? Or is this just something we will have to await an update for? Is it possible to code it that chtype 9 won't seek in the video when channel surfing?

Log in case you need it: http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=289207

Thank you for your hard work! About the user community list; when i have my configuration working, I'm surely willing to add it to the community list. I don't know if I can find time to test all links from the community lists and keep them up to date. But I'm willing to do what I can do to help out to make PTVL the true cable cutter Big Grin! Send you a PM with my email adress.
