[OLD/CLOSED] PseudoTV Live - Set-Top box solution
(2014-11-17, 05:23)Marshall Wrote: I've got a possible feature request. No doubt this has been thought of already, but I'll just throw it out there.

I would like to be able to filter movies and TV shows by date range. The idea being you could set up a faux HBO channel with movies and TV show (or just one or the other) that have production dates of 2014-2012 and then set up a faux HBO2 channel to have 2011-2008 and then HBO3 2007-1900. Obviously these are just examples, but it would be nice because you could make sure any of your channels are just playing the most recent episodes. Downside is you would need to adjust your channel settings each year but I guess if you wanted to get real fancy you could make the calculation and have options like >2005 and <2011 and make the appropriate calculations every time PSTV goes to refresh the EPG data. Truthfully it would probably be better to have the date rage qualifiers > and < built in right from the start. I'm not sure how YouTube etc passes back video information but you could probably use a similar function to filter those channel types as well.

Just some thoughts.

Looks like a channel based off of smart playlist that has these rules would do this

I don't think you can put TV shows and Movies on the same playlist, otherwise your idea isn't a bad option. Then again I'll have to mess around for a bit and see if there isn't some other workaround before I can say for certain. Thanks for the reply.
Spent the evening playing with my PTVL, and I love it. Have about 60 live/internet stations plus all my local music videos, tv shows and movies. The combinations is endless. Thanks Luna for the various options. I agree with some here it is not the easiest thing to set up, but it is not rocket science and you are in the forums so much we get feedback and updates all the time. I look forward to getting my donor information and seeing what else this puppy does. I so look forward to the tweeking of this (and of course getting the time thing fixed - still 5 hours off but I am sure I will figure that out). Thank again Luna, brilliant job.

You can make 2 playlists and 2 channels (one with movies, one with tv shows) and interleave them together.

Most of us would love to dump our cable providers, like the app was intended.
But, as you can see, by how many pages there are, as many of know, it's been a long time coming.

The arrogance of some people is astounding...

Look, I get it. You don't want to pay for cable anymore. You want someone to create a program that functions exactly how you think it should, that you also don't want to pay for.

Instead of coming on here and telling everyone (including the developer) what this project, in your opinion, was apparently supposed to be...how about you just say thanks for the countless hours of work that have gone into the continued development of this addon and move on.

Just a thought.

It's not arrogance, it's a plea for common sence, take the whole post, in proper context.
Too many people, have poked in too many idea's and adaptations in so fast, and that this plugin is out of control.
The earliest concepts are still not fully functional.
There's already two external support apps, that only work in Windows.
I'm sorry, but the community is wider than just Windows users. Now what are we suppose to do here?

So now you're going to explain to me "proper context?"

Your latest response is even arrogant. Your insistence that your stance is somehow a plea for common sense, suggests that we are wrong for not seeing it your way. And worse than that you are stating that this addon is somehow out of control or not fully functional, yet there are those of us that leave Ptvl running 24/7 and have found it to be rock solid.

So again, if all you want is a basic set up than simply set everything to the default settings and auto tune. It will build you hundreds of channels based off more content than most of us could ever watch - but If you would like somewhat of more specific configuration, than do what the rest of us did and learn how this program works by getting your hands dirty and editing some XML files. We all started not knowing anything about how all this stuff works, but the amazing thing is that if you actually put in the effort to figure it out, you might just learn something.

And oh yeah, although I truly appreciate you accepting my ignorance and offering to enlighten me as to the plight of the non-windows community, for whats it's worth, I've been running xbmc on openelec for the last year and a half.

How do you interleave PSTV channels? Explain in detail.

Hey Luna! Here's part of my log while parsing (line breaks added for emphasis). I noticed it parses the first 24 SUPER QUICK, and then freezes, and then parses each subsequent one SUPER SLOW. I pulled this from the log. It appears that at the end of each pluginwalk, it attempts to retrieve metadata for the movie, resulting in a "tt########", and then it moves on to the next file. But on number 24, there is an ERROR trying to insert this data into movie_meta cache table (it's locked). Then, from items 25 onward, it never attempts any metadata work again...ever. I couldn't find the "movie_meta" cache file (not sure if it belongs to PTVL, or to this plugin), but I'm confident it belongs to PTVL.

Any thoughts on what's causing this database locked error? And is it something you can address, or is it the plugin developer's cache file that's freaking out? Of course I can provide a full log if required.

Thanks Luna!

Maybe the metahandler pushed a new version which is slower? But its not PTVL…

Gotcha. So it's that particular plugin's meta handler that's erroring out?

You better read Milkman's Guide...

https://s3.amazonaws.com/github/download...System.pdf

Thanks I've read it, that's how I found PSTV Live in the first place. Unfortunately certain areas of that guide are vague and the onscreen channel builder in PSTV never worked right for me. The arrow keys don't work to cycle menu items etc. The good news is now that I have the PSTV Live Manager those options are opened up to me. Since the onscreen stuff never worked I went straight to working with the XML file and unless I missed something the fancy options for the XML aren't explained anywhere in the PSTV directions or anywhere else in recent history for that matter.

Regardless, I'm off in the right direction and putting together a bunch of playlists looks like a workable option for what I'm doing. Thanks for the push in the right direction.

Yup that log entry isn't from PTVL.

Hopefully the OP will share some of his live links on the community list. There are quite a few RSS and Youtube sources but live internet TV links are still sorely lacking despite Luna's best efforts.
