[OLD/CLOSED] PseudoTV Live - Set-Top box solution
(2014-11-18, 23:38)JoyDrop Wrote: Hello.

I'm completely new to the XBMC world and installed the latest version of pseudotv yesterday. It's just not for me. Having too many problems issues and really just want to have it uninstalled. I've done everything that I know to uninstall but yet it's still lingering as I still have the red mute button to the right of my tv screen and no audio is coming from any of my movies or video addonns. No sound at all now from my system. Can someone please give me simple steps as to fully uninstall uninstall pseudotv from my system please. I am running a FireTv with Gotham 13.2 if this helps.

(Sorry if I've posted in the incorrect thread. If so, can you please direct me as to where I should post).

Again thanks!

Start by telling us in detail what you mean when you say "I've done everything that I know to uninstall."

What did you do exactly?

New to PseudoTV Start here.

Got it working ! I figured it had to be the addon I didn't change any of the default settings so I went in and started to turn things off

Went in to the autotune filter turn all off except for TV,Movies,Episodes
Enabled Bumpers
disabled STRM Files and BCT files
Plugin Validation level from low to high

Not sure which one was doing it ! But I am a happy camper now Smile Thank you for the help I will keep reading and update

None of those setting should have caused PTVL to continue to lose it settings. Playing around probably "touched" the config files. Hard to say, but if its working, that's all that matters. Smile

Press "+" to unmute xbmc. After you uninstall use file manager to delete the PTVL folder. Then read up on how awesome PTVL is and how to properly configure and reinstall when ready. lol

Oops I thought I was added when I donated to Luna. I sent him a PM so my channels will be on there shortly. I really like the IGN RSS channels im trying to add. I hope others will enjoy them.

Thanks for the reply Marshall. Essh, this trying to recall what I did is not going to be easy. I've literally spent 5 hours full trying to figure out how to do this. Anyways, this is what I recall doing in no particular order:

1) System settings> Enabled Add-ons> Program Add-ons>PseudoTv Live>Right click to Add-On Information> Remove.
2) Settings>File Manager>Profile Directory, then select add-ons> Pseduo TV Live and another Psedso addonn>delete
3) Restarted XBMC numerous times.
4) Cleared cache numerous times
5) Went to Maintenance Tool> General Maintenance> Addon Removal a well. Just to ensure but it was not in my list after the doing step one and step 2.

I'm sure I've done a bit more to ensure it is fully uninstalled but really cannot re-step my traces. I already had FTV Guide which is easier for me to use. Sorry, just preference. Again, I am having issue with no sound, the red muted sound icon the the right of my tv screen, and now other video addons not loading. I'm aware that re-installing XBMC is a last resort, but I've literally invested about a month of customizing XBMC the way I like and such, and really don't want to waste all the effort just due to me installing an addon I thought would be issue free for me.

I don't think it has anything to do with PTVL, I think you have muted the XBMC volume. I don't know if FireTV has an onscreen keyboard (it should) but if it does, pull that up and hit the "+" key. If not you'll have to play around with the remote until you figure out how to unmute XBMC.

Everything else you did sounds fine.

and if all else fails, since it sounds like you have some sort of file manager

quit XBMC
navigate to xbmc/userdata/guisettings.xml
open the guisettings.xml file with an editor
look for this section

<audio>
<mute>false</mute>
<fvolumelevel>1.000000</fvolumelevel>
</audio>

set mute to false, it probably says true right now
and set fvolumelevel to 1.000000, it might be some other value.

save the file and start XBMC back up
Kalebbroo, I am using a Fire TV w/ it's remote. I don't have an option for "+" on it. I also did use File Manager and delete the PTVL folder. Believe me, PTVL is awesome for a lot of people. This is why I was so drawn to it initially, but not for me man. This is getting frustrating. Arghhhh...

I also use a Fire TV. Plug a USB keyboard into the back of it and hit the + key.

Ok Marshall, I feel like a complete idiot as I'm not even close to as experienced as you guys are with XBMC, but I finally un-muted the sound BUT, I know there is still Pseudo TV on my system because the Red sound icon is still on my screen and knowing me, there is no way in hell I can live looking at that day in and day out. Am I missing something here or does that not indicate that some part of Pseudo is still attached and how do I know that it is not interfering with any other apps on my FTV?

BTW, thanks for trying to help to all.

Oh I'm no expert, I just play one on the internet. The red icon comes to you compliments of XBMC and the mute function. If you did all those things you mentioned in the other post I'm pretty sure PTVL is gone and no longer haunting your player. Have you tried restating the FireTV box?

Really? I have never noticed this red icon until installing PSTV. I have restarted XBMC over and over reset the FTV and just unplugged and replugged it in and it's still there. I am 100% positive that this volume icon was not there before the PSTV install as it initially shows up when using PSTV.

I think I'm close to having to just do a fresh install of XBMC now. This blows.
Hi Lunatixz, I have got a question for you. Do you use xbmcgui.addcontrols to add the list of buttons for the tv programs?

Try playing a movie and bringing up the on screen display. Once the display is up look for the audio icon (bottom right center icon) and try sliding the volume up and down to 0.0 db in the menu.

Since up-plugging my FTV, the red icon is still there, only now even after following your instructions Marshall, I'm at stage where there is now no sound. Regardless of how much it's turned up in both the volume amplification setting and the other setting while a movie/ video is being played. Volume is all the way on full in this mode and on my receiver, it is also up.

You might want to head over to Android support and ask.

I don't know enough about how FTV is put together to be of much more assistance. I wouldn't try reinstalling XBMC at this point. If you do, you risk messing up the settings for your remote.
@JoyDrop your xbmc is muted, it's not a big deal... unless you don't have a method for unmuting it... I recommend you enable xbmc's web interface or use one of the many android/iphone xbmc remotes...

either way this isn't a problem related to PseudoTV Live... so I would appreciate us getting back on topic Smile
