[Annoucement][AFTV] SPMC (XBMC spinoff) published in Amazon Appstore
What is the status of installing this App from the Amazon App Store onto a Amazon Fire TV?

I can't figure out if it's really available for download or if it still needs to be sideloaded.

Regards.
Sideload on the Aftv
I am running SPMC 13.3.3 on the Fire TV and libstagefright is not working. I have disabled mediacodec and enabled libstagefright and I only get software decoding with x264 HD content. With 13.3.2 I did not have this problem. Does this happen to anybody else?
I am also running the AFTV with SPMC 13.3.3, and wanted to double-check HW decoding of HD content with libstagefright after seeing the following post from Koying.

(2014-11-11, 20:48)Koying Wrote: Yeah, SPMC automatically switches off h/w decoding for SD mp4/xvid/divx.
I don't know a box able to h/w decode all of them correctly, but all recent boxes can s/w decode them without problem.

I have disabled mediacodec and enabled libstagefright, and further disabled libstagefright mpeg2 decoding in AS. However I only see software decoding of H.264 HD content (1920 or 1280 width). I probably didn't notice this before because the AFTV seems to do a pretty good job at SW decoding even HD content.

I did spot an error in the log and include the relevant section here. (The whole log was 30+MB)

Any suggestions? Can anyone confirm seeing libstagefright HD decoding working lately.
Hmm, snap! Explains my recent issues with hd with mediacodec off. Rolled back to 13.3.2 and it works.
Confirmed. Will be solved in 13.3.4.
Hello, Koying. Just wanted to say thank-you for building and maintaining SPMC. I got serious about cord-cutting and moving to a HTPC setup a couple of months ago, bought two AFTVs, and then started evaluating XBMC and forks.

SPMC has by far been the most stable and functional build for my setup so far, and I hope you continue to update it. For reference I use the SPMC 13.3.3 launcher version, on pre-rooted AFTV FW 51.1.4.0, with the Xposed framework and rbox's FireTV mods installed. I've also settled on Eminence after trying many different skins.

There was one issue I found that I'd like to run by you and others on the forum. The 13.x Gotham release introduced a feature that lets SPMC directly launch Android apps and then return to SPMC on exit. However, I noticed the SPMC shutdown timer (from the Power Saving menu setting) continues to run in the background while the Android app is active. In my SPMC settings, I've configured a 5-minute shutdown timer to put my box in suspend mode. What this means is that when I launch Hulu Plus from SPMC and watch a video, my FTV suspends itself every 5 minutes and has to be woken with a key press.

Is it possible for SPMC to temporarily suspend this timer when launching an Android app, and enable it when the app exits? Would a change like this make sense for XBMC/Kodi in general?

Thanks again for all your efforts.
That would make sense indeed, but I'll have to check how the shutdown timer is supposed to work, first Wink
Hi, just want to confirm some facts for a brand new, non-rooted Amazon FireTV:

- The version from the Amazon AppStore is marked as "not compatible"
- I installed the non-launcher version of SPMC with fireAdb (sideloading)
- After buying and synchronizing items, SPMC was visible at the start screen

I created an issue at github. https://github.com/koying/SPMC/issues/27

If I could provide any help with the AppStore thing (especially for the german store and newest Firmware), please feel free to contact me.

After disabling hardware-acceleration, SPMC works really really good.

Thanks for your work.

When this is out, should we be only still enabling 'libstagefright' and leaving 'mediacodec' unchecked?

Depends on how it works with your content.

I rolled back to 13.3.2 and libsf works perfectly for all my content now apart from mpeg2. Since all my mpeg2 requirements are sd I blacklisted libsf and use software deciding. Everything works great now with only only libsf enabled.
I'm confused by 'libstagefright' and 'mediacodec'. Koying, is the intention is what you're about to release (13.3.4) that we be able to leave both enabled? Vs. just 'libstagefright'? Thanks.

Basically, what I'm asking is what should settings be left at for mpeg2 and h.264 use? Until now, I only had 'libstagefright' enabled as advised in various forums posts.

You can grab the APK off XBMC's downloads page:
http://kodi.tv/download/

Instructions here:

But SPMC is probably the more tempting option right now; so yeah, go with that. (It's pretty awesome).

Doh!

I copied the pvr.hts directory from the latest Android Kodi Alpha 5 release and stuffed that directory into the SPMC cache/apk/assets/addons folder...
Here is the dir. you need. Unzip and put in previously mentioned directory.

TvHeadend client now works again !!!

I got the TvHeadend working but I experience stuttering with HD streams. Can I use your zip on an unrooted Firetv ?
