[OLD/CLOSED] PseudoTV Live - Set-Top box solution
Well I finally made the switch from frodo + original pseudotv plugin to helix + ptvl, and it's been great to see such active development and progress from the original plugin that served me well for a couple years.

But I'd like to know if any progress has been made regarding refresh rates, I saw there was a post last May (quoted below), and actually I'm pretty sure this was working better in a previous version (0.5.8d maybe?). I'm not sure if it was an update or changing options somewhere as I'm still configuring everything, but I could have sworn it was working such that if you were watching 24p content in ptvl and brought up the guide, it would not change to 60p as it does for me now, it would only change refresh rate when choosing content with a different refresh rate than what was currently playing.

Does anyone have any tips to keep refresh rates changing to a minimum, but still enabled?

Running 14.1 and the latest ptvl from the repo on windows 7, can provide logs but I'm not sure anything was listed there when I looked.

When using PseudoTV Live with the VideoWindow patch, opening the EPG changes the display to 60 Hz and selecting a show changes it back to 24. Slightly annoying because there is a few seconds delay between the refresh changes.

When using PsuedoTV Live without the VideoWindow patch, the EPG is displayed properly over the content playing at 24p, however it doesn't work consistently and often times changing channels results in the content playing at 60Hz instead of 24p (ignoring my Adjust display refresh rate to match video XBMC settings).

I would be happy to provide any logs necessary if you have time to look into this further. Thanks!

This isn't something I can fix. It's an issue with XBMC. Wither or not VideoWindow can or can't play in 24p, I don't know. But having your refresh changing by content isn't ideal for Pseudotv. Try changing the change refresh from play/stop to always... otherwise there is no fix.

That means it works? Thinking about it, if you where trying to make a plugin type channel it wouldn't work. because that channel type wants to just mix up all the media files at the end of the path. So when u opened Live it just see's loads of media to add to the channel, therefor nothing for it to display to you to select.

Np, enjoy.

Yeah, but you can't turn it off and the maximum is 30 seconds. :/

Plus I wouldn't have mentioned the option itself without seeing it in the first place :/

from the changelog:

Quote:NEW! Playback timeout option. Found under "Misc", What does it do? PTVL tries to cancel playback after the configured
time. Tweak timeout time to avoid "Failed Playback" prompt. 0 = Disabled.

I understand 10 is the lowest the slider will let you go. So why not edit the settings.xml file your self and put it at 0. Worth a shot.

1. Up/Down buttons to easily re-order channels (eg. move second channel down to fourth position).

2. Select multiple channels and delete them all, re-order them all, etc. (eg. select first five channels to delete them all at once or select the last three channels to move them up all together).

I second this. Would be super useful if possible.

Yeah I agree
Question, what if the log file that kodi creates is larger than any pastebin service will allow for free, how to do we post our log files at that point? I have a 4 mb log file but pastebin will only allow a 512kb log file without paying for the service. Thank you.

Delete the logfile. Start Kodi fresh, turn on debugging in both kodi and PTVL. Go back and do the steps that cause the issue you wish to report. Stop kodi and upload the log file then.

Shouldn't be massive if you only do what is required to cause the issue and start from a new log file.

I read milkmans guide (more than once actually) and I can't see how it answers any of the issues I mentioned above. I even think that milkman guide is about PseudoTV but not PTVL. Some issues I wrote about above should work according to milkmans guide. For example, the stop-button should stop and close PTVL according to milkmans guide but it's not working. Many of the channels I have setup (studio channels) should work as well according to milkmans guide (and they worked before btw) but as mentioned only the first five channels I set up are working but the rest is not.

I really can't see how milkman guide can help here, but I might be missing something, so please point me to where I have to look exactly.

In my experience sometimes when all the channels don't build it's because the next channel is bad, try replacing that channel with another one and run PTVL again

Thanks for your help. So is there any way (other than trial-and-error) to figure out a) that a channel is "bad" and b) which channel is "bad"? Trial-and-error is inefficient on a setup with more than a handful channels.

So FEATURE REQUEST:

In in-app channel manager, either automatically check that a channel is working or let user test channel manually.

4) Maybe an issue with the skin?
I'm using Titan skin and standard PTVL skin. It's weird coz on some channels/shows its popping up smoothly and in other cases it kinda blinks.

Thanks for your detailed response btw!

All channels should be fine if made with in-app manager, and the source you use works outside if PTVL, check it works first, then add it into PTVL correctly. Trail & Error should be used if your attempting to fix one or two channels that you may have forgotten settings on or similar. If it's a reoccurrence thats happening on a majority of channels your doing it wrong or there's a bigger issue in your setup.

The sources are definitely working just fine outside of PTVL. It's basically all my favorite streaming addons. I added them all through the in-app manager. Nothing much that can be done wrong there since the in-app manager is quite intuitive (thumbs up!). So I don't really understand why it's not working properly.

I might try to just delete everything and reinstall PTVL again.

It grows to more than 500kb in like half a minute, trying to open pseudotv live to get the information. Once it finally loads, the file size is too large to load to any pastebin services. I used the xbmclogs.com to post the last log file, but site is not accessible at the moment, so I am not sure what other site I can use.

Ah thanks. I assume that should work. I forgot about looking in the settings file :/

I just tried it out with 0 and it doesn't disable it, but makes the timeout limit 0 seconds. This causes things to go crazy and then Kodi crashes.

Oh well. Thanks for the help anyway, Dec64
I spoke too soon... USTVNOW does not seem to be working in PTVL. I was able to add the channels using your instructions, but they never end up loading. All my other new channels loaded and work, but the ustvnow channels just simply never add. As I said, they were working before the last update... Might there be a bug somewhere?

I've got PTVL 0.5.8E and ustvnow buy Lunatizx 9.9.9

As I mentioned earlier, when I use autotune with ustvnow, I get a giant error on the screen. I sent in the crash report. Prior to the update, ustvnow worked no problems in PTVL. Also, ustvnow app works perfectly still.

You do realize that without a log you are wasting everyone's time including your own.
