For swap, try ruunning configrpi256.sh to enable swap and increase swappiness.
cachemembuffers sounds like an old/deprecated setting. Try not to include settings in advancedsettings.xml unless you are sure you need them - trust the defaults, as old settings are likely to make performance worse than better.
Thnx for the explanation. Ran the configrpi256.sh (ran it before succesfully on one of your Jan. builds) but with #505, both the swap.conf and autostart.sh files are created/modified but the swapfile itself isn't. Done some testing (delete both swap.conf and autostart.sh) and it seems like you don't need to create a swapfile anymore. Without it performance is very much OK, considering it's a 256 MB Pi.
