Last night did a channel rebuild as I noticed several of my NON-YT channels didnt load. i system cache flushed and rebuild brought them back. in the 300 channels I have 99% of them parse and load fine. To note, This is running on a i7 chip system with SSDs as i dont like lag. I know its like WAY overkill, but...

Google forced the change today, so you got lucky. Some of my channels have updated and I don't have them working anymore.

crap my post was based on last night, I haven't checked them today Sad bastages

The bottom line is YouTube is changing things that will affect ALL YouTube content on PTVL. Some YouTube content is still working on PTVL and some has stopped. If you turn on a channel and see a message stating your player is obsolete don't panic. There is nothing wrong with your setup, you didn't break anything etc.

In the meantime Lunatixz has already mentioned he is aware of the problem and I'm sure he will have a fix available as soon as humanly possible. Big Grin

If you're someone technical wondering what happened, basically Google phased out V2 of the YouTube API and the PTVL code needs to be updated to work with V3. You can check out the specs here https://developers.google.com/youtube/v3/
Is there a reason that XMLTV data is re-cached everytime you open PTVL? Channels made by playlists which are already cached fly through when open PTVL, but XMLTV seems to re-read it all over again. Is there a particular reason for this?

I've wondered the same thing, especially when testing and I am opening and closing a bunch of times. I do think eventually you need to refresh, say after 3 days or something. But if I just loaded it up, it would be nice that it doesn't have to start all over again.
it re-caches for me in less than a second with about 320 channel. When doing a lot a testing , I force a shutdown with task manager and relaunch. All in all I usually have a dummy s2 with only a couple channels, then the art cache only takes a second and I'm in. I was wanting the Xml TV cache not to update auto so I could keep the same channel #s .... it's just a very minor (at least to me) glitch I can live with. What drives me nuts is having to wait 100 to 300 seconds for the art cache to finish up BEFORE I can switch channels or it hangs with the show info bar showing and locks up my remote. Again a minor glitch but something I have to be aware of so I don't have to kill it and reload again. I'm glad I'm not the only one seeing these glitches. Again I can live with them easily but always looking to reduce the load times on these things.

This did not work. I increased to max (60 seconds). I am playing local media and this only started in the d revision (c was fine)
Fix coming today... v.0.6.1e

This appears to have fixed the issue of random quits. All working well (except some YT channels but I see this is a known issue so all good)

Yup, no more random quits for me either. Thanks for the fix Luna Blush
Hi all,

Does anyone know if the plugin is implementing a different version of youtube or it's relying on the youtube plugin installed on kodi repo? I'm asking because I'm using version 5.1.0 of Youtube addon and all videos are working correctly but now on my PseudoTV Live channels, youtube channels display the unsupported device error due to youtube changing the youtube API.

Thanks

EDIT : I just read the above post from Marshall and it answered part of my question.
Anyone running into issues with EPG locking you out during and after artwork spool for up to 5mins?
(2015-05-07, 07:19)Bbold Wrote: Hey is there anything I can do to stop my epg from being so laggy. I have only 100 channels most of which are from my library and its takes forever to scroll thru them.Im using the default skin and disable find missing guide data still scrolls slow. If anyone could help me out or having any suggestions I would appreciate it thanks guys.

Did you find a fix for this? To be honest, I had this issue months ago, it went away and now it's back again... It's getting old, takes me more like 15 mins to go through my entire guide (even with disabling find missing guide data) and then it goes on auto scroll for about 5 more minutes before it closes. About 10 times it freezes. I stopped using PTVL for about 2 months because it was basically non-functional in every regard. And I wanted to finish my skin but because of all the issues I was having with PTVL I just deleted it.

Every 2 weeks my entire channel config deleted randomly, I could no longer access the channel config, using PTVL Manager for Windows had a lot of errors and didn't work, trailers stopped working randomly, lots of random freezing, sometimes it takes 10 mins to open PTVL, when you close PTVL it won't reopen until you reboot system. Even after using Kodi on Windows, Kodi on Linux, full OS reinstalls, and different computers, I'm sorry but this program is way too unstable and it seems with every update it gets worse. I am a developer as well and I don't mean to knock the work on PTVL (the idea is amazing) but focusing more on the bugs rather than adding new features seems like what this program needs. It honestly seems like it was more stable when I moved from Pseudo TV last summer to PTVL, but then around Fall/Winter until now it's been nothing but persistent problems, bugs that get fixed and then return again and again months later, I can't even really use it. I came back to PTVL thinking maybe some updates improved it all, but yet again nothing, been using it for a year and just major headaches. PseudoTV was very very very stable and I never had issues. Does any testing ever occur before the update is pushed? I may just stick to smart lists.
As a developer krave one would assume you know to provide logs when encountering odd behavior.

Guess i just don't feel like copying 100 logs every night and posting them esp. when other bugs for months of those posting logs still haven't been completely fixed Wink Not like these bugs are just natural to me, they are also all over this forum.

Well the issue is, even if multiple people experience laggy epg, they could be having completely different problems. There are a lot of potential problems that could be causing a laggy epg. If you post a log, perhaps someone can figure out what exactly your problem is

Truth of the matter is... I can't find all the bugs by myself! If I personally experience a bug, I fix it... I also spend a lot of time tweaking and fixing bugs unique to a users setup and eventually PTVL will share a universal performance between users... but the simple truth is every ones rig is different, every users media configuration, type, source differ... making logs an essential part of helping PTVL grow!

Want something more stable, with better performance... without all the bells and whistles? run PseudoTV Lite

I should also remind users, I run three instances of PTVL in my home 24/7... The EPG's run smooth, no lag... except for the occasional slow down when Kodi or another plugin is running in the background.

Users like krave are the scourge of the development community... sure they don't mind using the free software, and freely running their mouth about issues... but when it comes to actually helping, they come up with excuses and expect others to do the work for them!

to be honest I too am experiencing a crippling slowdown with epg. however before I post any logs or request assistance I am currently trying to troubleshoot it myself.

I will either post my findings and hopefully help others with the same problem or
I will at least post my logs when I can no longer figure out the problem.

I don't doubt it... but no logs = no fix...

Kodi can be installed on anything from a super computer to a tin can...
Some of you have acquitted memory, others don't... Some of you use SSD drives, or modern HDD's; others don't even use class 10 flash!

I know the code in question... it just requires fine tuning... what fixes some users issues... creates issues with others.
