It works on windows 8.1 also.

On my HP chromebox I downloaded these VGA drivers (select windows 8 and relevant platform) and installed them.

Will see if I can get DTS HD and Dolby True HD working later...will report back.

Are you still using the method detailed by marcus in post 217 as I thought 8.1 & 10 didn't work with HDMI audio (Sorry if I missed something obvious here!)?

Not sure about that post but it seems mixing the windows 8 VGA display driver from Gigabyte with windows 8.1 or 10 enables the audio over HDMI.

FYI. I had already installed the recommended Intel NUC drivers from the first page...I then just downloaded the display driver from Gigabyte site (Windows 8 is what I used) and installed.

Although it seems the excitement could be short as MPC HC and Kodi keep crashing, it may be to do with the driver!

Maybe a directX issue with the drivers. I didn't look at the crash logfile. Maybe you can check it what the problem is.

Gilles83, could you please explain the process you followed to get HDMI audio to work in Windows 10 (and also Windows 8.1 it seems).

Also could you confirm what hardware it is working on (Is that a HP Chromebox in the video)?

From reading the last few pages in this thread the general opinion was that HDMI audio didn't work in either OS so I am just curious (Sorry again if I missed something obvious that has recently come to light)?

Install Windows (8, 8.1 or 10). Install the drivers of gigabit website and this is important choose the windows 8 as os (not win 7 or 8.1). Install the display driver last. Hdmi audio will work now.

Oh I have hp chromebox with 4gb ram. So I used the windows 10 pro insider preview build 10074 64 bit.
But other builds work to and Windows 8 and 8.1 to.

FYI . I'm running this on windows 8.1 at the moment.

DTS HD and Dolby True HD work for me when connected to my Yamaha receiver. I'm using Pot Player as it seems to be working ok with films, MPC HC & MPC BE keep crashing. I've played and skipped through a few films with the HD audio and all seems ok with pot player.

Kodi will only pass through DTS is seems not the HD audio, I'm using the Kodi Directx 11 test build from June 4.

I did but keeps freezing/crashing...the test build from Jun 4 was working very well so will revert.
