No sure about the menu, but check variables.xml for the custom widgets. There's a variable that defines them.

Where does it look for the submenu options? Are there any other files I should be looking at apart from the ones I indicated earlier?
Like I said I can see them come up in Windows but not on Android..... weird......

I'm setting up an MXQ Box.... widgets are now working but submenu not showing.

It's all good..... I uninstalled Kodi and started fresh and applied the new changes....

All working, both Widgets(10) and Menus(15 Custom Menus).

for what it's worth as 'another user' with an opinion... I have to agree, I find the middle focus position very strange and unnatural behaviour, I would prefer to see the bottom 5menu work the same as the top 5menu even if it means you don't see what is coming. (just my opinion)

Sorry guys, I changed the default 5-item main menu back to the way it was before, with the center item keeping the focus when there are more than 5 items. This is more consistent with the way the 3-item menu works (with fixed horizontal lists option). And it works much better with the submenu to me, since the submenu also keeps the center item focused. Here's the commit in case you want to reverse this on your setups.

@braz, respect your decision... b4 I update can you please confirm the top 5menus still works the same as it always has ? or have you also changed this to interact on a centrally focused position? (as you have outlined/reverted to above)

That would be too distracting on the home screen IMO. You're welcome to take a shot at adding it though. The animation is in MusicVisualisation.xml.

regarding the top 5 menu, I find it quite unnatural to access the widgets (at the bottom by pressing up... so I was just wondering if it's possible to press down through the submenus and then access the widget or (as I have very few submenus) switch/reverse the up/down function as I am 99% of the time more likely to access widgets over the submenu.

sorry to be a pest! [GRINNING FACE WITH SMILING EYES] if it's a simple .xml reversal I'm more than happy to implement myself

don't worry braz, please ignore the request... sure I/we shall get used to it (my kids keep asking me how to access the widgets, they shall remember after I've told them 10x lol)

I like the top menu just how it is, wouldn't want to see a horizontal menu.

For those of you that use the skin setting to show the widgets all of the time, I spent several hours today overhauling the animations. Transitions should be much smoother now, let me know if you find any issues. Also added a loading animation for widgets.

It all depends on your PVR backend. I'm using NextPVR now and I can't get EPG colors to work. That screenshot was taken when I was using WMC.
