Hello all, I am after a remote control for this to wake from sleep/ power on.

Am I right in assuming the only good option is the MCE remote from maplin.co.uk for £20?

Thanks

Hi hr21 if you check first post under wake up from remote section
a user links to this reciever as working with the wake on remote feature

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281730391461

and this remote
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141684830183

Its logical that the reciever is more important, as long as the remote communicates with it.

So I think any HP reciever like that with remotes included as a bundle would work.

so take a look at these

New Samsung RC2604317/01B remote control HP Media Center MCE USB IR Receiver - £11.99 the remote looks alot nicer to me than the maplin one

New HP RC1804929/01B remote control and HP Media Center MCE USB IR Receiver - £11.99 this one is both hp reciever and remote, so it looks good with a full hp setup? I think it does

except for the reciever to be working for this feature (confirmed by two users) the remotes are different! but like I said I think the reciever is the more important one, at the end of the day its not 100% though so its upto you to take the gamble over the maplin one that works.

if you do decide to buy one please report back on your findings so it can help other users. also note the reciever is alot bigger, but that might also mean it would be more sensitive to ir signals? better reception?
@ nogging, what do you think? do you think they would work?

I've discovered an issue with the Maplins remote which I believe someone may have posted about earlier in the thread,
that is if the box has been turned off for several hours the remote will no longer power it on,
this didn't happen when I used the keyboard to power on and only applies if mains power has still been available to the machine.
I.E. I often turn it off at the mains (I turn everything off in that room when I'm out for the day) and when I reswitch the power on the remote will work to power on but wont if I tried after several hours and hadn't turned the mains off.

@stammie I believe some mention that this happens while others have said no matter how long you powered it of it will still power it on, kinda defeats the purpose of having this feautre since most would turn it of overnight and turn it on the next day leaving 12 hors or more in between...

whats everyone else saying?

what happens if you leave a keyboard plug in.

However on a slightly different note without any keyboard it take an extra 5 seconds to boot. Displays error no keyboard message for 5 seconds.

Super stoked about getting this box!

For those those that are interested its a 12 seconds boot from MCE power on to Kodi fully loaded.

wow that is fast! thanks for sharing

Okay it works. I did not want to say anything before but I ended up buying these screws from Maplin
http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/optical-drive-...hers-a24gf
I removed the washers and replaced them with these washers
http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/anti-vibration-washers-a26gf not the cheapest method but I could not be bothered to try stuff of eBay and wait for it to me be posted etc. I used 2 washers for each screw so 8 in total The washers are pack of 50 and screws the same so have plenty left if people would like some I can also post for the cost of a stamp.
I
If someone can let me know hot to post images I took some and will be happy to share.
