I was really hoping to get a Shield this Black Friday but so far there seem to be not so many deals in Europe and certainly none in Portugal where the Shield TV is not available. I even thought about getting one off of Amazon UK, but then there's the whole AC plug and adapter thing to contend with. So basically I think I can't consider the Nvidia Shield TV as a valid alternative for me. In any case, I still want to use Kodi as my main media center software of choice and I still want an Android box on which to run it. So can anyone please recommend a powerful alternative to the Shield short of building my own PC media center (hate the fan noise).

Thanks for the reply. My french is a bit rusty but I think this item ships with a free remote if I add a remote sold by and shipped by Amazon? Trouble is I can't find the remote sold by and shipped by Amazon. Only a Maison du Numerique.

Edit: Never mind. Found it. Out of stock and also for some reason it doesn't discount from the total value.

Edit 2: Found the issue. All solved. Ordered but remote is out of stock so it'll take a while to arrive.

Haven't tried it. Just wanted to try that sweet HD audio. DTS-HA MA being decoded to LPCM it seems with 48Hz limited output. Bug I guess.

Got it at Alternate.de (is a german computer parts retailer) They now seem to be out of the remote bundle. But i saw some at mindfactory.de to.
They are even discounted in the nvidia shop!

Thanks. Meanwhile i managed to snag it off Amazon.fr. The remote is sold out so I'll have to wait a bit longer. I started off this morning on the shield.nvidia.de page but they quickly ran out of remotes too. And also they only ship to Austria and Germany. After that I went through a series of pages before landing here and being pointed to Amazon.fr. I rarely remember .fr as most times I just search on com, co.uk, es and de. I just hope I won't be dissapointed that I bought such an expensive beast and that I can't do much with it in Portugal. I'll probably end up with a overly priced set top box running a Kodi / Plex combo

I bought from them too! And they replaced faulty unit after 29 days! Was I busy to troubleshoot 5Ghz faulty network! They also reimbursed the international handling fees I had to pay in advance! Great.
