Linux OpenELEC Testbuilds for x86 (Kodi 17)

Yes, passthrough delay (audio sync) is currently a problem. According to @fritsch:
(2015-12-03, 09:24)fritsch Wrote: but AE is currently redone cause of non IEC passthrough for android. Here it seems - passthrough delay is currently broken. Wait until the weekend - I will report when it's fixed.

Hopefully some new fixes at the weekend.

In the meantime, try testing/listening with passthrough disabled.

Passthrough is always a problem sync wise ... it is package aligned. You can only drop or dupe - no soft resample or something. If you really want perfect sync - then just don't use passthrough.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Ahh. I forgot this option (drop/dupe)! Thanks.

Hey! Testing the new built 1201 here. Besides the passthrough audio sync problems I have quite a bad TV experience.
1. http://sprunge.us/IYXZ
Kodi crashed when I tried to change the channel.
Crashlog: http://sprunge.us/PaUT

2. http://sprunge.us/AJIK (maybe not a debug log, but i can reproduce this if needed..?)

When I select "record now" (OSD) on a program the recording starts. When I try to stop it kodi freezes and after a while shows "PVR-Backend-Error: For more details see the log."
Looking at the tvheadend server I see that it has crashed:

clicking OK on the PVR-Backend-Error freezes kodi completely as it tries to reconnect to tvheadend. Tvheadend version is 4.0.7 maybe this problem comes from the server?
@Mettbrot: did these problems start with #1201, or is this the first build you've tested? Testing earlier builds to determine if they have the same problems might be useful information.

Is the tvheadend server on the same client as Kodi? There are updated tvheadend builds in theaddons folder.

I tested 1119 for a longer period of time, definately including TV usage. 1128 for a day, don't exactly know if there was any TV usage involved. The tvheadend server is on an unraid machine on the network.

I will roll back this weekend and see if it changes behaviour.

Oh, that option is gone in settings!? Can't find it.

It's not there anymore ... when passthrough is played it's always drop / dupe.

Ok, then I will wait for a fix. I am not interested in perfect A/V sync, but would like to keep passthrough, because of better sound quality (subjective awareness).

Hello folks,
just got aware of those builds of Kodi with Openelec. I am running 6.0 on my Asus Chromebox as a single install. So my question is, is it worth installing the beta?I would use Leopolds addon as it has a backup function which hopefully works to go back to the stable version without data loss. I am using Kodi to watch my video collection and favourite TV shows.
Thanks
These aren't betas - these are test builds. The purpose of the builds is to test new features that are coming in Kodi 16 and even 17 (and OpenELEC 7) - some of these features are still in development, and not yet finished. Other features are proposed for Kodi or OpenELEC, but not yet merged - testing them here increases the liklehood of them merging sooner.

These builds are generally quite usable, but obviously by their nature more likely to have issues than stable releases (any issues will hopefully only be temporary). They may also break add-ons and skins.

If you have problems with one of these builds then reverting to a stable release is quick and easy, although ideally you'll stick with it, reporting problems with debug log (wiki) files so that fixes can be worked out and added to the next build etc.

Hello and thank you for your work.
Would it be possible that you build a tvheadend service with transcoding support?

Sure, if you submit the PR for inclusion in OpenELEC and it's not rejected.

I'm only interested in including features that have upstream support, the idea being that if/when I stop producing these builds you should eventually be able to switch back to a future stable release with no loss of functionality.

Ok, i Understand.

I already have a x86 tvh build with transcoding from openelec.tv but it doesn`t work with Kodi 16.
Because tvheadend service is not directly included in OE i thought it would be ok.

Thank you for your feedback.
It's there as an unofficial addon, so you can submit a PR against the OpenELEC Unofficial tvheadend package. If it's just a matter of using different build options to enable transcoding then maybe there's little reason not to include it, but any discussion for or against can take place in the PR.

If it's merged, or likely to be merged, then I have no problem including it in the tvheadend addons I build. However if it's not going to be merged then it's not something I will be including.
