I've tried your suggestion (started the console via adbshield) and got this error:
The Shield has the latest firmware, is connected via USB to my MacBookAir and Debugging is enabled. Two days before I could install the freeware AutoStart with adbshield.
So I've no clue why the command is not working.
What's wrong here?
Edit: I'm using Mavericks (10.9.5) on my MBA

with ./adb everything was working
