There's a potential fix to the pvr.hts addon pending as well, but to really improve the experience we need to change the API a little bit.

To answer the original thread creator: No, Timeshift does not work with TVHeadend + OpenElec 6/Kodi 15.2 :-(
+1 to whomever can fix the 2 main issues
-Rewinding/forwarding in the timeshift buffer
-The GUI/Navigation isse, that makes it possible to forward into "the future"(beyond actual live state!?!) - The GUI should basically just prevent the user from doing so or instead just show "Live" in the Topbar.
Happy to assist with testing whenever it hits the Beta's - One of the last things I still miss back from the Mediaportal days.

For me timeshift is greyed out in the OpenELEC Tvh-addon v6.0.3 (HTS Tvheadend 4.0.8).
I do have enabled timeshift in the web interface.
Any hint why timeshift is not accessible from the kodi client is welcome.
Thanks

Hmmm so I have no more hints for you. I have timeshift available in Kodi but this function is very unreliable and still not usable

Lots of fixes pending still, especially in the pvr.hts addon. I tested the proposed changes today and while rewinding/fast-forwarding is still quite unstable, skipping back and forth now works correctly (probably for the first time ever). These fixes will be merged before Jarvis is out so don't worry.
There have also been some fixes to tvheadend, but you need to use the unstable builds (master branch). I haven't tried those yet.
