Kodi doesn't (can't) change the Shield resolution.

Maybe Kodi changes the refreshrate to one, which is not supported in 4k, so it falls back to 1080p? Just a guess...
Kodi 15.2 @ Android TV (Nvidia Shield)
PVR Backend: DVBLink/ DVBLogic with DigitalDevices 2xDVB-S & 2xDVB-C,CI DeltaCamTwin @ UM02 & HD02

Kodi doesn't (can't) change the Shield resolution.

It does change from 4K 60 to 1080 24.

Again.. how are you seeing this? Is your TV settings telling you that it is actually dropping to 1080 24? Kodi is able to change my refresh rate, but the TV still remains in 4K according to the TV's internal system info. There are other Apps that are telling me the resolution is 1920x1080 but my TV says otherwise (examples: PPSSPP https://i.imgur.com/XogG7fd.jpg and Aida64 https://i.imgur.com/cFHrBeE.jpg ). I'd just like to know how you are confirming this in the Shield UI. A photo would be nice.

Don't know "Aida64", but "adb shell dumpsys SurfaceFlinger" is your friend Wink

Care to explain "adb shell dumpsys SurfaceFlinger"?
I'd be happy to give it a shot.
Thanks for all your help!

I have the same thing (Not the full image when "original size" is selected with L1 from the controller) and can also read the purple text
So is it really displaying in 4K ?
Sorry but I am confused.

If you can read the purple txt.. should be in 4K.
The sizing issue seems to be a bug.. the cause of this bug seems to be the unknown at the moment.

Oh, it's very clear. The coordinates system for sizing is in GUI. It should be transformed from "video" coordinates.
I personally never use (nor actually see much point in) "original size", so a trac ticket would be needed as a reminder.

Did not have time to submit a ticket last night.. might be able to tonight or tomorrow. Thanks!

For some reason Kodi thinks that I am outputting only at 1080, no matter what 4K settings I choose within the Shield itself (60p, 59.9p, or 30p). I have the newest Kodi 16.0 Feb 20 build, which worked perfectly fine before the Marshmallow update. Shield is in fact outputting 4K as is confirmed by my TV, even when running Kodi. I really need help getting this fixed as the main reason for me buying the Shield TV was to play my 4K content on my 4K TV, using KODI! Many thanks for the help.
Same situation here - has this been officially acknowledged as a bug?

I did the test video and the purple text is illegible.
My TV is 4K, my AVR is 4k and 2.2 compliant and I have the 2nd gen AFTV.
Videos via Amazon show as UHD.
I already have media codec surface selected.
Any suggestions on what is going wrong?
