Correct, just tested all home layouts and same slowdown in all after that commit.
Before I revert it back, just want to confirm...are you running the latest script.skinshortcuts from github?

I am, I double checked that prior to posting anything about the slowdown.

I updated skinshortcuts last week (13/03/16) when I updated to that build of Mimic on GIT, there have been no further updates since.

Thanks, just pushed a fix to github. Please let me know if this resolves the issue.

Update: Actually, I also pushed a second commit that uses another approach. I'm hoping that they will both work with your setup. On mine, the visualizations now run smooth with both.

1st attempt to fix: https://github.com/braz96/skin.mimic/com...86daa87a62

2nd (preferred) attempt: https://github.com/braz96/skin.mimic/com...9840ff5894

Hey Braz,

I am trying to use this link: https://www.transifex.com/projects/p/xbm...kin-mimic/
to help with the translation (I am Dutch, and the translation now is not really good, but I get an 404 error telling me that the page cannot be found.

I finally made the jump from Isengard to Jarvis and have updated Mimic to the latest. In my previous setup I had vertical menu and the submenu's would fly out to the right as you went over each title. Is the ability to do this gone??

I get a 403 error, forbidden. Not sure if the link has changed, didn't see anything on the wiki or forum.

Yes, this option was removed. The current options are to press left for submenus or show them in-line with the main menu. The latest Mimic version on github has additional improvements for the vertical menu.

2nd (preferred) attempt: https://github.com/braz96/skin.mimic/com...9840ff5894

"2nd (preferred) attempt" works like a charm, no choppyness/slowdown in the home menus

Great Job!!

Thanks braz

UPDATE:

Shite, sorry for previous post; I was wrong!!

In my excitement to test today, I forgot to remove the "-master" from skin.mimic-master folder inside of zip from github. As a result I was not using the newest build, I only noticed when I saw the older NextUp notification popup.

When I fixed my error and used the CORRECT "2nd (preferred) attempt: https://github.com/braz96/skin.mimic/com...9840ff5894" as above; the choppyness instantly returned to the home screen.

When I tried the "1st attempt to fix: https://github.com/braz96/skin.mimic/com...86daa87a62" from above (correctly renaming the skin.mimic folder) it does indeed work smoothly with no choppyness/slowdowns!

Sorry for mixup, is there another way to implement to changes you want?

I have not experienced any such choppyness in other skins (even tested KOver) using my RPi 3, but I return always to Miic as it is my current fav skin.

Is there any plans to add this functionality back in the future or do you plan on heading in another direction?

No plans to add it back, it wouldn't work with the current widget layout. I'm satisfied with the 2 submenu options that are currently available on the vertical layout.

I've reached out to the developer of the skin shortcuts script, will see if he has any suggestions. If not, I'll revert back to that 1st attempt that is working for you.

Couple minor bug reports re:Vertical Menu layout;

When icons are switched off, they then appear in place of the home icon in the header bar when main menu & combined submenu items are highlighted which is nice, but for those who have customized menus, if they haven`t assigned an icon, a blank square appears which looks unpolished. It should return to the home icon for main menu items and main menu icon for submenu items. Also, when submenu items are highlighted, the widget disappears.

Will check the header icon, it should show home if one isn't assigned by skinshortcuts or the user.

Not possible to show widgets when submenu is selected unless you set the option to separate the sub/main menus. I'm open to pull requests if you know how to get them to show for the combined menu. Smile

Thank you for this fantastic skin. Best I've used.
The latest commit d940547 has created two issues.
First issue is "Add-ons" is no longer under settings. Its just gone.
Second issue is in horizontal "normal" mode the changing from one menu to another is crazy slow now. Actually a slight pause.
I have double checked all addons are current.
I have re-booted several times, etc...

I am on AFTV box running Jarvis.
Prior to last commit Mimic was perfect.

Thank you again for this amazing skin.

Known issue, I'm looking into it.

Re: Addons in the Settings window

Other users couldn't stand the fact that you had to scroll to see the last 2 items, so I removed Addons and System Information. These aren't really settings categories anyway, Addons just points to the addon browser and system info is its own window. Recommend adding them as submenu items.

Hello,
It's personal, but I don't like this new design
is it possible to manually back to the previously settings windows ?
Thanks

I feel the same way. This menu doesn't fit at all with the rest of the skin. With all respect to the developers of this skin .... this is just horrible to look at. Sorry. Confused
