Mike, if you think this would help I have no problem doing it.

I have a backup of my entire kodi folder (prior to this update). If I rename or move the current folder and then copy the backup to my Android device I might be able to replicate the black screen I got on both my Android boxes. I don't think anything will be revealed because I think it's just that slower devices take longer to do what ever needs doing during the update. My screen was black for at least 5 minutes before I intervened and pressed the right mouse key (back button) on both these boxes. I have no crappy builds on anything I own. Would be glad to do it time is not a problem I'm retired Wink

Also maybe you missed it....but mouse clicks (left button) on Androids, do not work when trying to build a widget for a menu item. When you click on Widget 1 or 2 there is no response. OK (remote), Enter/Return on physical KB work. Once inside selecting widget options there are strange things too. Like being kicked back to the top level of the skin settings menu if using the mouse. No problems with windows installs.

Using 16.1 stable official build on windows.
Tried to reproduce the issue with an backup and Debug Log on -> but without success -> this time all worked well and my menu wasnt reset.

I love the customization of this skin. Its nice to use something and think I wish I could do... oh wait I can..
As a long term user of amber skin decided to try this out when I seen you were adding a vertical menu and I'm not disappointed, its gorgeous.
My only complaints would all be within the OSD. And maybe I'm missing something, but since I use a smaller tv and I'm generally half asleep watching tv. the play/pause etc button, the difference in color between highlighted and not, is not terribly noticeable. Also it becomes a little hard to read the time once it gets over written by the bar that says how far into a movie I am. ( I realise the exact right choice of color makes this a little better but that seems limiting) Could we not mebbe make that bar a little shorter, move the time and the progress somewhere its always readable?
I pause a move for 3 reasons. To check the time. To check how long till a show is finished. and coz I actually need to pause it lol.
Also I love the info and picture that come up when u press the "I" during playback. In amber that's default. If u pause it shows that. I liked that option.
Sorry if it sounds like a lot of bitching instead of feedback. I think its hard to get used to any change when switching something.
Oh also custom widget seems not to work for me, is that only me?

I did that and still got a black screen. What I did was open up my addon_data folder located in the userdata folder. Then I manually set the path for "CustomBackgroundPath" using notepad++ and bingo the default_bg.jpg was set. Thanks for the replies Mike I know this forum keeps you busy. We all appreciate it

@mike the problem still exist Sad no matter which background i chose i have a black background!!

Fixed on GitHub for Jarvis Branch.

I have one from a PM. I just forwarded it to you.

If you want to install the new version along side your old version change the skin directory name and also change the 'name' in the addon.xml so you can see the difference between the skins in kodi.

There is absolutely no reason to do this.

If you are using Kodi 16.x or newer, just go to System | Add-Ons | My Add-Ons | Look and Feel | Skin | Aeon Nox: Silvo and deselect the Auto-Update

-Pr.

You are correct you can simply do just that.

The thing to keep in mind is if kodi auto updates silvo before you get a chance to change that setting you are back to square one. But you might be lucky to get away with it.

My suggestion is a foolproof way (before you even load kodi) to make sure an unexpected update wont update the skin or alternatively have your old and new install side by side.

EDIT: I apologize and I did leave one part out. If you change the id you will also need to change;
"userdata\addon_data\skin.aeon.nox.silvo" to the same name as your 'id'
"userdata\addon_data\script.skinshortcuts\skin.aeon.nox.silvo.hash" also to the same name as your 'id'
This is too keep your old settings.
Just wanted to mention that I recommend changing the addon id not for auto updates but because changing the skin code makes it not the same hence unsupported. Can't expect everyone to read the forums and/or disable auto updates before they know better so just change the id and I don't have to deal with the fallout. At least I hope I won't have to Wink

Textures.xbt minus epg colours

Just overwrite the one in \AppData\Roaming\Kodi\addons\skin.aeon.nox.silvo\media
Thanks for posting that Smile

I do not see how that is possible because even when you agree to reset it still requires a second confirmation from the user to perform it. This doesn't take into account people who do not wait for the update to finish and I have no idea if that would even trigger a menu reset by the skinshortcuts script.

For the record, it wouldn't. A menu reset is the deleting of the .DATA.xml and .properties file from userdata (wiki)/addon_data/script.skinshortcuts - there's no way a skin update could cause this, unless the new version of the skin calls the scripts inbuilt reset function (which is what I presume this skin does but, as Mike said, the script will then ask for confirmation from the user before deleting these files.)

Maybe I'm missing it, but has no-one captured a debug log yet...?
I didn't think it would. If you want to take a look at the code used, it is here. If you prefer to test it out for yourself and let me know if it was a dumb idea or just poorly coded.
Add
Code:
<setting id="Enable.AdvancedWidgets" type="bool">true</setting>
to the latest Jarvis skin settings.xml file.

Got your log thanks for that Smile I didn't see anything wrong with the update, so that's good news! I forwarded your other log to Mr. V.

How do i make it work??
Not sure. I assume the mod needs to be updated, there have been many changes since it was posted.

Can you post a debug log (wiki) of just trying to set a color and exiting cleanly i.e. no force close (ALT + F4)

Request don't sound like bitching Wink Not sure what to do to make the selected button "pop" more... Huh Can you post the color code you use for your theme color so I can see what it looks like. Having the option to choose any color does leave a possibility of it not working in every situation. Hard to have a particular look and account for every possible color option Nod

I'm not in a position to test at the moment (only up at this godforsaken hour to head to the airport), but from a quick look your code looks fine, and combine it with this (bearing in mind you're not disabling the warning, and therefore the script won't proceed without getting the user consent) I'm struggling to see how what you've done could trigger a menu reset without the user being prompted twice first.

I did not think it was possible myself and barring the few who have mentioned it... I assume the forum would have been flooded with complaints by now if it was such a prevalent issue. I am not disabling the warning and did not even know you could... Not sure why you would not want an extra confirmation before doing something so drastic. That being said maybe there is some unknown (to me) difference when calling the scripts reset function through another Python script (script.toolbox), but I suspect that it would not matter either way.

Sorry to hear about your airport woes, I only hope it is worth it and you can at least get some sleep when you arrive.

I wish you well on your travels Sir Bob Smile

P.S. I hope there are more fun Monty Python codenames in the future for igConq Big Grin

Hey just wanted to give a heads up the widget does not recognize "watched" for Exodus, so it has the entire list of trakt progress or what ever you choose watched videos never get hidden.

Also no another note is there anyway to get the confluence view of "nexted aired" tv guide in the update?
I thought for sure that would be an option, but sadly its not if yhere is pkease help if not maybe that could be added in the next update? Theres so many option to customize this skin i love it, jyst eish there a few more customizations possible.

Thanks
