Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows

I don't think Reclock is opening if it is not selected...or do u think it is?

No it isn't. It's just installed on your system (as it is in mine) but DSplayer doesn't use it (as it doesn't in mine), it uses the default renderer.

reclock is dominating this thread, would it not be sensible to start a new thread for this?

I understand the concern but, on the other hand, this fork is pretty much "stopped". What else should we be discussing if not configurations of a DirectShow player? That's what DSPlayer is, no?

Furthermore, I doubt a different thread would be allowed, as Reclock discussions concern only DSPlayer. Back then I dreamt of a subsection of the Windows support forum dedicated to DSPlayer. Users are certainly more than some of the less popular skins with a dedicated forum section. But it's clear this is not going to happen. For whatever reason, this fork has not been appreciated. And I doubt things will change in the future unless there's a serious change of people leading Team Kodi (I'm not advocating it, just saying how I see the situation).

@stoolzo
Agree with Ashlar... We could say CRU is dominating the thread (last pages are about it), or MadVR. But it is all about DSPlayer at the end, don't u think?

@djoole
Nice. I'm gonna try Sanear next if I am able to install it.

@warner
I agree with u, but I'm very curious just to see how it works on my system without ReClock and with my sound untouched.

I see no reason why we should not continue to discuss this subject, interesting discussion to follow, for those who have the expertise I think it's a benefit that does not talk about it, in some ways it would be bored to follow a thread undertone.

In this regard I expose my situation an audio renderer with DSPlayer.

Carry a situation of audio renderer Seaner, Reclock and audio renderer default job AVR through a file at 25fps 1020x720p

Before situation through audio renderer default AVR bitstreaming.
output (Ctrl + J)
24.0000Hz display
Clock Deviation 0.00070% or so
1 frame Drop Every 1.00 seconds = not good

Depending on the situation through audio renderer Reclock / bitstreaming.
output (Ctrl + J)
24.0000Hz display
Clock Deviation - 3.99970% or so
1 frame Every Drop 4/5 hours = not bad I'd say

Third situation through audio renderer Seaner / bitstreaming.
output (Ctrl + J)
24.0000Hz display
Clock Deviation 0.00300% or so
1 frame Every Drop 1:00 seconds = not good at all

the question is very simple, audio renderer Seaner, not doing the audio correction work, compared to Reclocking with this type of content, I do not find improvements to tell, audio renderer Seaner is better than Reclocking, and settings for madVR are the same for the three work situations.

Hi gotham_x did you wait for stats to stabilize? I ask because the deviation seems all over the place and the clocks do not change with audio renderer.

Also, the only real attractiveness of Sanear is that it appears to be in active development, with an x64 version already available (which doesn't touch DSPlayer, as it's x86, but still). For Bitstreaming videocontent I don't find real problems with DirectSound, to be honest. When you bitstream the standard codecs (DD, DTS, THD, DTS-MA) are untouched in any case. It's only if you have formats you need to decode by software that DirectSound resamples/remaps speakers, etc.

In any case, Reclock is not good to check the clock deviation. My suggestion is to measure with DirectSound standard renderer or Sanear. Reclock stops madVR from measuring properly. I think that's been confirmed.

you are playing a 25 fps file at 24 hz why are you even looking at the dropped frame/repeated stats?

same as before a 23p file was played at 24 hz...

@ashlar
I did this series of fast enough evidence, I have not waited for 15 minutes, let's say that I waited the five minutes for each single test to stabilize the statistics.
Honestly, I have no idea if that specific content 25fps 1280x720p making these absurd values Sanear, of course, I have to learn more lunge with other content at 23,976 fps, 24 fps etc ...

you mean it's something normal if a file is played at 25 fps to 24 Hz, in the sense that you're looking at? I interpret in this way, your question.

However, if you play a 23.976 file is played at 23,971 Hz
all with active Reclock.
For Sanear I explained above.

Yeah, my opinion.
Talking about wether forecasts or horoscopes would be kind of offtopic, but we are discussing relevant problems here.
DSPlayer is the choice of people who want perfect playback in a home cinema, the perfect framerate thing is an important part of that.
I hope that DSPlayer is not dead. I use Amazon Prime Video, and with Kodi 17 that is working like a charme a the moment. My dream would be to use Amazon video within Kodi and use DSPlayer.
At the moment I have Kodi 16 with DSPlayer and without Amazon or I have Kodi 17 with Amazon but without DSPlayer (the use of madvr is the important thing for me).
Workaround would be to use MPC HC external player with Kodi 17, but that is not working for me.
Hopefully someone can combine Kodi 17 and the DSPlayer part together...

Yeah, let´s talk about it. At the moment I´m sorting out some problems with the given concept. I understand some of the underlying concepts but I´m still on the way of learning all the stuff myself. I share my opinions and point of view and want to share working solutions so that I´m not the only one that can make use of it.
Ashlar is very interested in this materia and has way better English skills than I have, so he is putting things together and writing a howto.
The howto is still in progress so stay a little bit patient (and be aware that work in progress has some flaws).

Everything is as expected. You are running a 25fps video by using a refresh rate of 24.000Hz. The clock deviations vary when using Reclock and aren´t right then (as already said).
The discussion here doesn´t cover things like reverse PAL speedup or things like that, we are talking of playing back movies with a refresh rate being a multiple of the framerate and that accurate enough so there aren´t frame repeats/drops.

Quote:I bitstream and live with clock deviations -- I don't really notice the occasional frame drops, anyways. This is only for the perfectionists.
Everyone reacts to other "artefacts" in a sensible way. Someone explodes when watching ringing or aliasing, others hate wrong aspect ratios, and others like me can´t enjoy a movie when seeing stutters. I´d say 95% of the settings madvr offers are only for perfectionists. Of course noone could be perfectionist in all possible matters, we all have our preferences.
I notice the frame drops and I´m working hard to avoid themBig Grin

By the way, with hannes69 we are refining the reasoning behind the numbers, as some of the concepts were not making total sense to me. In the process he found some extra food for thought.

Expect a rewrite of the "how to".

Ok guys, a question.
Just installed and registered Sanear, and it's among my audio renderers in DSPlayer settings, so I just chose it.
But, when i'm playing a movie, pressing O to be sure is being used, in Audio Render I can only see "Directsound system default" (and there's a Sanear ICON in the system tray next to madVR one).
Is this normal?.

second time in a month kodi has crashed to a black screen on startup, rendered my pc completely useless forcing a reboot and then when back on kod settings set to zero. all user data is there, just doest load anything as if its opened a new profile.

Never did this before using KODI DS in the last 5+ years.

Click on the sanear icon on the Taskbar. Enable bitstreaming and WASAPI exclusive mode and select the audio device.
