The Dormer Branch merge has been completed. The "Dormer Last Call Update" will be released tomorrow and "Danvers Beta 5" might also just be released tomorrow.

This may be the first time in AZ:FA history where releases are released ahead of schedule.

Ok I thought I was doing something wrong and pulling my hair out.
Perhaps, someone who knows better could guide us on how to resolve the issue.

Attention Android Users

For Color Picker not functioning. Download the latest nightly for Krypton. When you select a colour to change, you will be prompted to download a new plugin. Go ahead and download and then go back and select any colour to change and the Color Picker will work.

Hope this helps

Investment into JIRA for the From Ashes Project and Continued Development of the AZ:FA Site

I forgot to mention this in the release post but due to the continued sheer growth of AZ:FA, the expansion of the team, and the help of the community, we have decided to make an investment into JIRA for bug tracking, progress reporting, and project management. This new resource will be coming soon (after it's been setup and I also give keys to @Habitual_Sinner and @minus0). This move has been made because I have been going through pages of this thread to see that there are requests we forget about or bugs we miss although they are mentioned and we need to generally organize the From Ashes Project better. To quote @Habitual_Sinner, From Ashes needs a roadmap.

Likewise, it will be integrated into the AZ:FA website which is coming a long although none of the new content is published yet (i.e. it's still not visible to the public).

Remember, tomorrow we should [hopefully] see the release of AZ:FA Danvers Beta 5 which has an astounding amount of changes and updates to it and we will look forward to everyone's feedback. As always, with Danvers, release means "pushed to Update Origin" which means it can take 2-24 hours depending on locale for you to get the update.

Also note that the US holiday season (Thanksgiving/Christmas) is coming up which means Beta 5 may be around for a little while.

I just downloaded krypton and was a little confused. Is the version of arctic zephyr in the official kodi repo the only version/most up to date? Or are there other/more up to date versions of this skin? Confused by all of the tags I guess: arctic zephyr, arctic zephyr: from ashes Danvers, etc. Sorry for the noob question.

I had a similar issue today running SPMC on my FireTV and my last ditch effort was to clear the data and cache from the app library of SPMC and reload all my settings. Good luck.

@jmurph116, the version of Arctic Zephyr in the official repository is maintained by @jurialmonkey. It's a completely different experience to Arctic Zephyr: From Ashes which is essentially a "fork" of the original Arctic Zephyr. The two diverged somewhere in the 2.x of the original Arctic Zephyr and have continued to diverge.

From time to time there have been rumblings about getting AZ:FA into the official repository due to the divergence but I don't think we're there yet and at its core it's still a fork of Arctic Zephyr by @jurialmonkey (and Kodi's policy is no skin mods in the official repository). You will find the AZ:FA Audio Suite in the official repository however which is automatically installed by this skin and two others (one also an official skin).

Did this work? It's possible that something was changed between 3.2.21 and 3.4.20 as it had been many months. Are you getting stuck at the startup screen for AZ:FA (the one that says "Arctic Zephyr: From Ashes") or at the Dormer Notification? The reason I ask is because the latter is provided by the skin helper service and should be a standard function. The former would be a "need to look at the logs." Actually, if you are getting stuck at Dormer Notification a log would be helpful too.

The latest release of Dormer was tested on Windows, macOS, and OSMC. None encountered this issue and no one on the development team has a FireTV with SPMC to test with.

With that said, remember that AZ:FA is intensive and could take up to a minute or two after each update if you have a lower powered device. However, I don't think you can get much lower powered than an rPi3 and that takes about 30 seconds top after each update before you have control.

My issue was from the update to 3.4.20 today. I updated the beta repository and ran the update for AZ/FA to 3.4.20 and SPMC crashed. I rebooted and tried to launch again with SPMC crashing again. I went into the app settings and cleared the data and cache and then loaded up 3.4.20 from a base SPMC confluence install and It is working now. I have 4 Fire TV's and 2 Fire TV Sticks in the house so plenty to test the upgrade on. Smile

@g-man, I do sincerely apologize for the installation experience on SPMC using Amazon FireTVs. Unfortunately, as you know, there's only so many devices we have available to test on and FireTV is not one of them. I do believe the distribution SPMC is but it's not something we've been able to reproduce.

Without a debug log to trace the issue there's also no way for us to fix it but the scope of the issue seems limited to Amazon FireTV running SPMC (otherwise a lot more reports would be coming in now like they did with the last release).

Since Dormer is EoL'd now and you've been able to get running plus we have no FireTV debug logs of the update, I just don't see the issue being addressed but rather a workaround added for those that may encounter the issue.

It's a critical issue but it seems to effect a small subset and might just have something to do with changes between 3.2.21 and 3.4.20 as other SPMC devices haven't been reported to encounter it as far as I am aware.

Again, I do apologize.

No problem Guardian_Hope, I agree this is probably an isolated issue and with the release of Krypton coming out I also don't see the benefit of trying to fix it. I am able to recover quickly and plan to move to Krypton on all my systems once released by SPMC. I am a huge fan of the work everyone has done on this and am able to hep test any new releases moving forwarded as needed (once SPMC matches the latest release). Big Grin
