Linux ChromeBox Kodi E-Z Setup Script (LibreELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2017/02/21]

(2016-11-14, 18:37)BoxFreak Wrote: I suspect my second Asus Chromebox (CN60) is somehow broken. After clean install (tried several times with OE and LE) system just hangs randomly. Hanging doesn't seem to be related to any activity I'm doing, and it can happen while watching video, or while accessing Kodi menus and settings. How to troubleshoot what could be the faulty part of hardware? I can always try rams and ssd from my other box, but is there some easier way? I've already tried with different PSU's and WLAN / Ethernet, but it doesn't matter at all.

Got a replacement SSD today, and this box is working again.

Btw, what to use for video scaling method with Jarvis (LE stable), Lanzcos3 is not available and that's recommended in the Wiki?

Hi Matt - I am also getting this error - i am probably doing something wrong here but help much appreciated

situation - I have a chromebox running libreelec from internal ssd - recently i added an external hd with music and i would like to change the current 'boot from usb' option to off so it will restart without hanging

ssh into libreelec - run current script - get sudu error
" With LibreELEC you have root access by default, so you dont need 'sudo' "

run the "bash setup-kodi.sh"
setup-kodi.sh: ./firmware.sh: line 127: syntax error: unexpected "(" (expecting "then")

cheers

You can't run the script from LE/OE.

I don't see any such recommendation here http://kodi.wiki/view/Chromebox#Recommended_Settings (or elsewhere on that page)

ah, thanks for the quick reply - what are my options to run it? boot from usb into linux?

Yes that is the best way. The script requires bash whereas libreelec has ash.

I have to check, but I believe it's now only available when scaling SD sources to HD, since it's too CPU intensive with no benefit otherwise; use 'bilinear' for everything else.

I'll be redoing the recommended settings for Krypton shortly since everything is finalized now (settings location wise)

Hi All

After some advise please, I purchased a second hand asus chromebox with Kodi pre-installed but I have noticed that the boot time reduction to 2s must not have been set when it was originally configured as my other chromebox boots really quick (they are both the same spec and model)

My question is how can I reduce the boot time on an already configured system please as chromeOs no longer exists?

Thanks

Mark
PS BTW I'm using Openelec

just boot a Linux USB (eg, GalliumOS, Ubuntu), then run the Kodi E-Z Setup Script from a shell terminal. For a standalone Kodi setup, choose the option to Install/Update the custom coreboot firmware

Hi Matt

Followed your instructions as above but did not get an option to reduce the boot time?
Selected 6 Install/Update: Custom coreboot firmware
Selected N for install headless firmware
Selected S for SSD
Selected N for PXE Booting
Said Installing seabios-panther
Installed Successully

I also created the libreelec media but it still didn't ask me regarding boot time

Any ideas? I just would like to reduce the boot time?

Thanks

Mark
