Release "iPlayer WWW" add-on
(2016-11-23, 07:29)simon_lefisch Wrote: I'm in the US. I did a bit of digging and it doesn't seem that it works, unless you have some other insight?

It is not supposed to work in the US. Thus, it is also not supported if you try to do so.

I am sorry, but if you want to watch iPlayer abroad, please take it up with the Beeb, not Kodi or the add-on maintainers. Thanks.

No worries, that's what I thought. Thank you for your insight, it is much appreciated [emoji1374]

Just a quick question/request. I couldn't find the BBC World Service among the live radio stations on the list. Would it be possible to add it? I'm currently using another add-on for this station, but the iPlayer WWW offers much better stream quality and it would be nice to have everything in here.
Cheers!

I'm getting a message when attempting to view live channels "Channel available only in the UK". Never had this issue previously, even though I am not in the UK. Use a smartdns service to avoid geolocate issues. Catchup works without issue. Anyone else seeing this problem?

They've gone to some dash format without telling us. It works ok in a browser for me.
@CaptainT Have you seen it?

No, I haven't seen it. I am out of town and won't be able to do anything this week. I hope the change is not too drastic as I only have very limited time available for the rest of the year.

While the switch to DASH in the browser was expected for a long time, I am pretty sure there are still HLS streams around for tablets and smart TVs. I remember you wrote that fantastic script to test all red button channels. Could you use it to check which streams are still there?

If they completely switched to DASH, this would be the end of live TV in Kodi. Kodi still does not support DASH, as far as I know.

I've checked all the stream sources in my BBC Live addon and the latest get_iplayer. No Live Streams anywhere.

Someone has been having a bit of luck with dash on Kodi so I posted a question here:

I doubt if it's the end of the world but they did something drastic like this before Christmas last year or the year before.

I'll have a deeper dig into mpeg-dash tomorrow.

Ha, too bad. Sad But then again the live streams have been a dirty hack for a long time. I guess we will need to check what exactly tablets and smart TVs use these days. Looks like I have to dig into Wireshark after all.

Thanks, that is certainly a good idea. However, full DASH support has been on the wishlist of add-on maintainers for some time and only little has happened. I am under the impression the main Kodi devs are not interested in coding this rather low-level streaming functionality but hope to get it from ffmpeg at some point of time. I think that's a mistake as ffmpeg never offered a really good HLS implementation and I highly doubt that it will do much better with DASH.

Did I mention before that I will be off on an extended Christmas holiday soon? Angel Unfortunately, that means if anything breaks, it will only get fixed mid of January.

Thanks a lot and good luck!

Who says?

DASH works just fine with v17 and YouTube add-on from repo using inputstream.adaptive

Sounds good. Do you know if anyone has had any luck with the BBC streams?

I'm still having the same issue with live streams that I originally had yesterday when I first posted. Catch-up is working fine though. Anything I'm missing?

It is probably something with your route to the live streams. Try contacting the support department of your providers. They might need to update their dns settings or it might be as simple as rebooting your router and devices, and flushing your dns cache.

Sorry, I didn't check the progress recently. My impression was still based on what was going on about a year back.

That sounds great! Will need to test that once I am back. I just had a quick look at inputstream.adaptive and came accross this:

Quote:Adaptive bitrate switching is prepared but currently not yet activated

That would be the end of all of the bitrate setting nightmares. Rofl

However, I assume that would break compatibility of the add-on with older versions of Kodi, right? What is the approximate release date of Krypton?
