Is there anything new about my problems with auto attaching usb 3.0 hard drives with gpt and huge size ?
See my last post for logs: http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=...pid2489833

Thanks in advance for help

Greetings Deepjungle
No haven't had a chance top look into it yet, been a little preoccupied. I imagine that's the same for everyone else. When anyone has anything to say they'll post...
Texture Cache Maintenance Utility: Preload your texture cache for optimal UI performance. Remotely manage media libraries. Purge unused artwork to free up space. Find missing media. Configurable QA check to highlight metadata issues. Aid in diagnosis of library and cache related problems.
No problem these days we all are preoccupied i think. I thought there were news cause of the new build. That's why i asked.

No problems here, 3*usb3 2/3tb drives, mounted with no problems..
Happy new year to everybody!
I'm using latest build #1231 on a rpi2, I have several video files stored on a USB HDD (sda1) and imported into Kodis library. The HDD is set to standby using hdparm, so spinned down. With the new estuary skin I experience the following issue:
Whenever I scroll through the main menu (movies, addons, weather, etc) Kodi is spinning up the HDD although NO file is loaded, probably because thumbnails are displayed. Is this necessary? Shouldn't all movie related information as thumbnails, view state,... stored in Kodis library and not with the movies source files?
I'm just asking because spinning up and down my HDD seems to be less positive to lifetime.
Thanks for any hints!

Check your debug kodi log for warnings/errors relating to artwork or other files that can't be loaded (or are not supported) but that Kodi believes to exist on your HDD - that would be my guess.
Texture Cache Maintenance Utility: Preload your texture cache for optimal UI performance. Remotely manage media libraries. Purge unused artwork to free up space. Find missing media. Configurable QA check to highlight metadata issues. Aid in diagnosis of library and cache related problems.

Thank you. I captured the event of spinning up while moving the cursor through the main menu and found several DEBUG entries, but none of warnings or errors:

Any ideas?

Happy new year to everyone!

I got a question:
Can I restore a Libreelec backup (via the Libreelec addon) from a RPI3 to a general install of this build?

Thanks!

Happy New year.

Yes, should work.

update from 1215 to 1230 and got the cec issue some talking abpout a few pages ago: tv turns automatically on. i thought this was fixed?

i've a sony tv and so far no problems with rp3 and cec.
Hello i did another test with a 1TB NTFS USB Hard Drive from Toshiba. I created a new GPT volume with the max size of 1TB on Windows 10 and attached this drive to the raspi 3. This drive gets detected as soon as it is powered up. Again i did a test with my raid drive, new formated as GPT with 9TB volume. It gets not detected. I think it has something to do with the size of the partition and the auto attach mechanism. I used this drive with 6TB on the 1129 Build but i got some problems with audio so i did a reset. At this time and with 6TB it was auto attached to the raspi.

I think huge does matter ... in this case Wink

Hope this helps to find the problem with huge GPT partioned external hard drives.

P.S.: I did another test. Resized the external Raid hard drive from 9TB to 6TB. It gets auto attached. So it has really something to do with the size of the partion.

P.S.S.: Next test with 8TB. Hard drive gets auto attached.

P.S.S.S.: After some further tests i could qualify that the maximum amount auf MB you can a ntfs gpt partion use with auto mount must be between 8.388.239 MB (last working) 8.399.999 MB (not working).
CEC issue with Pi3 & Panasonic TV.

Upgrading from 1223 to 0101 noticed a new issue, CEC works initially after install, but if I make any CEC changes and settings get updated CEC stops working at that moment. It needs reboot to work again.

Tried with 1230 and 1231 versions and it behaves the same. Did not try older versions because it is not bothering me that much, too lazy Smile

Identifying the exact build where the unwanted behaviour started would be useful.

it started with 1220

but i thought in 1223 it was fixed, that the tv does turn itself on.

unfortunately for now i can't test which build cause this behaviour.
I'm currently using v1214, and also have the issue, that CEC stops working after changing some CEC firmeware options. TV is a Telefunken, directly without AVR.
So, the issue seems to be quite older than mentioned 1220.
