Subtitle Position in Kodi 16.1
#1
I recently upgraded to 16.1 on all my machines from 15.2 and noticed in my theater that I can't adjust the subtitle position at all. If I leave it at Fixed position and adjust in Video Calibration I notice no change. Nor do I see any changes in Top of Video, Bottom of Video etc. I have a 2.40 screen and when having subtitles on for these movies the subtitles are half on and half off into the matting for 2 line subtitles and into the matting on single line subtitles.

I've tried it with my MQ7 skin and also Confluence.

Also...is there a way to have seperate subtitles positions for 16:9 and 2:40 movies?

Any ideas?

Seems like it may be the same issue for me in kodi 18 Leia on Windows

I set subtitles to be on "top of video"

But subtitles are still displayed on the bottom

I am using LibreElec 8.0.0 on a S905 (Tronsmart) box with Krypton

On the same box with Jarvis I did not have the problem at all.

Just want to add that the subtitle setting "on top of video" work if it's a .srt file outside the mkv

Looks like text based subs work and bitmap based do not. Not all bitmap based subs can be moved, there are ones that must be rendered at the given pos. Maybe something in that region of the code got broken, if it has ever worked.

Did not bother me much as I always display subtitles on the bottom of the video

Just wanted to report it if one day a dev have some spare time to spend on looking if it's an issue or not

And if it's not a bug then maybe add "may not work with some bitmap based subtitles" to the setting description

In movie and tv-series embedded in .mkv files the codec says: Text with various tags (subt)

I don't think Text with various tags (subt) are bitmap based. And as I mentioned, it works perfectly in Jarvis.
I have a SD-Card setup on boot, so I can change between Jarvis and Krypton.

On a nightly nuild I installed some time ago (Kodi 17.0 ALPHA1 Git:2016-03-23-5447beb) it was working also. In later version it didn't any more.

Maybe that will help

What is LibreElec?

LibreElec is a continuation of OpenElec as an OS to run Kodi, more info is here: LibreElec

So, anything further on this issue?
Seems to me if it was working in an earlier build (Kodi 17.0 ALPHA1 Git:2016-03-23-5447beb), it should not be difficult to trace
