Before I go there and post I want to better understand what the problem is so I can post somewhat intelligently. So rather than you wasting time giving me a lesson in coding let me see if I understand it.

script.skinshortcuts is supposed to start when I touch "Widget 1" or "Widget 2". When I touch either a condition is not being cleared so script.skinsortcuts isn't being called?

EDIT:

I have the widget menu item working on Android with mouse and on android with touch!

Let me set this up:
ALL installs are Kodi 17.1 Final
Android with mouse is a Ugoos UT2 box running a custom ROM so I could get it to Android V5.1 and Kodi 17.1
Android Touch is a Samsung Galaxy Tab S10.5 SM-T800 on Android 6.01 Stock no root

Your link to the code got me to thinking and looking. I noticed between the present V6.06 and the previous git V6.06 there was an extra line of code that was NOT in the older git v6.06.


This line was added in the present git for Krypton:

<onfocus>ClearProperty(skinshortcuts-management-widget,Home)</onfocus>

So, I removed it and fired Kodi up and low and behold on the Samsung the touch worked for widget 1.
Now I go do the same thing to the Ugoos box, edit out that line of code, and the mouse still works on Widget 1 but it's also working on widget 2 which is not happening on the tablet. I suppose that line of code repeats somewhere for Widget 2, like item 801.

Now tell me how I just hosed up my whole install of Kodi on both devices cause I don't know what the heck I'm doing and why would I go in there an tinker around anyway.

I installed Kodi on my my iPhone so I could test this out and I think I have a fix for this. Try latest Git please.

Removing that line will make it hard to back out to the main menu customizer. At least it should do that

So, uh, while I was testing this out I noticed something else with the new graphics for moving the menu items (↑↓+X) in Windows I noticed when dragging the mouse around on them it's very likely two of them will turn white as if active. The ↑ and ↓ in particular.

A couple question for ya. Using Krypton nightlies on win10.

When setting up a widget, would it be possible to remove the title of the widget? If I setup recommended episodes, I don't need the title to remind me what the widget is (or do I? Getting a bit old ). If I try and space away the title, the widget won't work. If library data provider is used, it seems the episodes are displayed ok. Skin helper service brings up a complete different set of episodes that never seem to change (hope this makes sense).

You mention quite often about using the latest from git. Is the correct way to use git just download the zip file every time you want to update? Doing a pull from source seems to make the skin incompatible.

Appreciate your work and any help you can give!

With latest Git you should be able to use spaces for the Name and have a blank Widget label.

I don't really have any control over what the Skin Helper Widgets do. I am using a when the library changes update the Widgets reload for things like when adding/removing/marking something watched. For the non-library widgets it is every 10 min or at least should be.

If you post your script-skinshortcuts-includes.xml on Pastebin or Dropbox type link I can see what the reload is set to.

Only people who visit the forum thread and will give feedback and test things should be installing from Git.

You should do what your comfortable doing. If you tell me the Git client you use and the exact steps you take I can hopefully see what the issue is.

I did a Fresh install of KODI from the kodi download webpage still same issues. Do I need to grab a older version of

krypton: Kodi v17 Codename Krypton.

On A New Laptop. to see if maybe something was corrupted on my imac

If you download and install Kodi 17 and you do not see labels like you mentioned earlier then you are 100% using the Kodi 18 skin.

Just setup tvheadend and have some concerns:
I wanted to use the recent channels widget on my live-tv home menu item. The problem is that by focusing the widget, the background image disappears. Is there somewhere an option to force the menu item background to stay visible?

I recognized there is no button for the "pvrosdchannels" in pvr osd menu, which I like much better than the guide (which has a button). Would you mind to add it or do you think it gets too much buttons? :-)

In movie and tv show lists, you can switch back to fullscreen and control the player in the side menu. Don't you want this also to be in pvr menus like the guide? I think it would be nice to have it there, too.

In the TV guide, there is a placeholder for picons in the lower left corner. Unfortunately the picons are being shown way smaller than they could, so would be nice if we could scale them up or something like this.
When no EPG data is available for a channel, the picon disappears, too. Would be nicer if this doesn't happen.

Now that its all up and running correctly the only issue I have is when I goto Skin Settings, Customizations, Video information. doesn't matter if I click use default or not only your version shows on screen when I click Information on any movie or TV show Episode. or using Widgets From Home Screen, However if I go into Extended info Program and find the movie or tv show and click Information it uses Its Dialog Screen which is the one I use because your Version still shows Actor Image instead of the Actual Photo of the Actor.

There is a setting in Extended Info to prefer the scripts own dialogs but it appears to be not functioning ATM. You can delete the xmls that begin with script-script.extendedinfo- to not use the skin versions.

And I already did this part but it still only shows your version

I don't yet know how to make images, really should just hunker down and learn but not really enough time ATM, if you make one or someone else does I don't mind adding it.

It is impossible to show the skin versions of xmls if they do not exist. You say you deleted them.

If you have done that they do not exist and therefore cannot be shown.

Ok I did Exactly as instructed but got hung up on the DO NOT OVERWRITE EXISTING INSTALL.. that confused me since the 6.0.5 is the same folder name and I would have to delete that folder anyways in the step before that. Nonetheless it still does the same for me if I delete than post new folder. Kodi 18 shows no problems whatsoever other than the extended Script add-on doesn't work. I like your version other than the fact that the Cast members show up as Default Actor icons instead of the actual actors photo. But after 29 Hours straight trying to do this everyway possible I am done and will stay with 6.0.5 til 6.0.6 is officially released.

Missed the bit about the README and which branch works for each Kodi version.

You are installing the Kodi 18 version of the skin so if you do not want that version install the correct one.

The reason I say to delete the folder is if you do not know what you are doing you will have a FrankenSkin that isn't going to work right.

I'm trying to add multi images to a firestick via adblink but having a minor problem...
I want to push a folder from my desktop to the sdcard but i can't move the whole folder, only individual pics...
Is this the best i can do or is there another way to add the pics...

ES File Explorer on both the stick and an android mobile/tablet, start es on the stick, start es on the android hardware (with the folder you want to move) long press on the folder, press the 3 dotted button to open more options, click send, es will find the other instance of es running on the stick (make sure they are on the same network) click the name that correlates to the stick on the android device, press send again, finish the transfer on the stick, move the folder to where you want either using es or kodis inbuilt file manager
PS you may need to compress the folder

Please don't quote my posts if you are just talking to me. All that extra is unnecessary.

DialogVideoInfo is the default Kodi xml for the video information screen. If it doesn't work correctly then you are either using banned addons (wiki) which are not supported or you do not have an accurate up to date library.

Plenty of resources available to look over in the very detailed wiki.

I don't want to use the same buttons cause it could be confusing but will think about it.

If there is no guide info why does it matter to see an icon for info that is blank anyway? I don't get it.

You can mod the startup focus button yourself very easily by changing the:

in VideoOSD.xml to whichever button you prefer.

If using library then change either the onload for playercontrols visible or the opposite in the two lines below the one mentioned above.

Most will but some have alternate names or function a little differently so for them you would need to select that option again if it is not the default.

If you mean things like menu items then it will carry over, however, if you are using crap on your system then I cannot guarantee that but it "should" be fine if you don't use garbage like 'Maintenance Add-ons" or "Fresh Start".
