v18 LibreELEC Testbuilds for x86_64 (Kodi 18.0)

Have you stopped kodi, xorg and eventlircd? If they are running you'll get no output from ir-keytable -t.

Hi Milhouse,

I posted here..  324008 (thread).
This issue only exists on the libreelec versions - has done for a while but used to work in kodi17 or a while ago, I tested one of the latest nightly builds (http://mirrors.kodi.tv/nightlies/windows/win64/master/) on my laptop and it works as expected so seems to be an issue solely with libreelec and not tvheadend or the addon.

This happens on all 3 kodi tv boxes I have, Acer revo 3700, Zotac ID-80 and Zotac ID-88 - all running #1112.

Let me know what you want to see to help understand why this might be..

Thanks
@HiassofT

Have you tried updating to the latest tvheadend42 addon? I don't know what version of the addon you are using. See here: http://milhouse.libreelec.tv/builds/addo...headend42/

If you can determine the first build from these test builds that exhibits this behaviour then that might shed more light on the issue.

Other than that I can only suggest continuing the discussion in your own thread, or on the LibreELEC forum.

Is there a command/setting that allows to change keyboard repeat rate in Kodi? I have tried xset and kbdrate but those are not available, and would they even work?  I'm using Flirc that simulates usb keyboard with ir-remote commands and repeat rate is a little too fast.
@pacoma2610 thanks a lot for the tests!

There's an interesting pattern, after the long-pressed "5" and after each short press another signals seems to be received ~236ms after the last one (which gets interpreted as a separate button press in 4.14 since the timeout changed from 250 to 164ms).

Would be interesting to know if this is coming from the kernel, from the IR receiver or from the remote.

Could you please repeat the ir-keytable -t test on the working build and post the output? A single short buttonpress and a longer one should be enough.

And please do another test with on working and the non working builds: run "mode2", do a short button press and post the output.

so long,

Hias

Create a file /storage/.config/udev.rules.d/70-input-repeat.rules with the following content:
Code:
ACTION=="add", SUBSYSTEM=="input", KERNEL=="event[0-9]*", GOTO="start"
GOTO="end"
LABEL="start"

# don't change eventlircd device settings
ATTRS{name}=="eventlircd", GOTO="end"

# increase repeat delay to 750ms, use 200ms repeat period
RUN+="/usr/bin/ir-keytable --delay=750 --period=200 --device=$devnode"

LABEL="end"
Change the delay and period parameters of ir-keytable to your likings. Note that this will affect all input devices of your system.

Why do I have, after it has worked for years incl up to build # 1111 without error, an additional file (which has no effect for me) create.

I think that's what changed from Build # 1112 and higher and should eliminate this again.

If i go Back to Build #1111 everything works fine

@pacoma2610 you seem to have misinterpreted @HiassofTs reply to @TimoJ as a reply to yourself. That reply has nothing to do with your issue.

As for why you are experiencing a problem with the 4.14 kernel, I provided the link to the change in one of my previous posts (post 1952 in case you missed it). I can only assume right now that the kernel developers didn't test with your particular brand of remote control, or your remote control is "out of spec". Since this is a fairly new issue and one which may or may not be widespread we need to take some time to consider the best solution. Please continue to work with @HiassofT.

Hi all, please forgive me if this is the wrong place for this or if it has already been dealt with elsewhere.  I am very new to this and just trying to figure things out (I'm a biologist, not a computer guy).  I have two issues.  A little background first.  I want to use my QNAP NAS as the backend to run tvheadend and use kodi as the frontend and run tvheadend as an add-on in order to use my NAS as a DVR.  I have HDHomerun working and setup with Tvheadend.  I can watch live tv through the HDhomerun app (on my comp, phone, ipad).  I can also watch live tv through kodi.  I was previously able to go into tvheadend through the web on my NAS, and record, and then watch a show (I did this one time with one of the world series games) on my computer.  Problems: I can't figure out how to set up something to record going from Kodi.  When I have pushed record nothing worked.  And now, recently, when I tried to go back into the tvheadend app on the NAS from the web using my computer, it won't let access. It says 'authentication required' http://192.168.1.130:9981 your connection to this site is not private.  Username_________ Password ____________.  I have tried my normal passwords.  xbmc/xbmc.  So, I am hoping you can help me get back in to the app, and to get it setup to record from Kodi.  Thanks, Brian

Hi Milhouse,

I am using a shared tvheadend server for all my 3 Kodi clients, this is in the loft and so I don't use addon - so its defo not that.
After alot of trial and error I found the breaking build - its build #0124, the last working one is #0117. I assume it will be the kernel update then or what more info would confirm the issue?

Thanks

#0124, 24-Jan-2017: Generic -- Release post (New 4.9.5 kernel; libcec, libnfs, kodi updates; updated media_build package)
#0117, 18-Jan-2017: Generic -- Release post (Bump e2fsprogs and populatefs; default to CONFIG_TCP_CONG_BBR; disable ADSP support)
@pacoma2610 I think I figured out what's going on / wrong.

Could you run the following command and report back if this fixes the "bouncing button" issue?
Code:
ir-ctl -t 100000
