That worked, thank you! Going to donate a couple of bucks to the project.

Here's what I did so maybe it helps someone. Downloaded Kingoroot apk, installed it via adblink. On the firestick I ran the app and let it root my device, it says it was successful and installed it own SU. I then Uninstalled both of the apps via the firestick menu. I also downloaded and installed Super SU apk via adblink. After that I am good.

Not sure if kingoroot actually rooted? I was pretty late to the party and was pretty sure I was unable to root. Maybe a false positive or something.

Glad it's fixed!

adbLink 3.4 06/27/17

Cconnect/disconnect buttons are disabled when
the device OS isn't Android.

The pull directory in the device record now overrides
the global default pull directory in in preferences.

A check box, "Disable root", has been added to the
device dialog. If you have a rooted device that
fails to display the file manager correctly, try
checking this box. See help for more detail on this.

adbLink installs Kodi to the new Fire TV (aka "needle", the 4K diamond) w/o problems and all functions appear to be working normally.

You need to install:

kodi-17.5.1-Krypton-armeabi-v7a.apk

Not:

kodi-17.5.1-Krypton-arm64-v8a.apk

The v8a release results in the adb error:

Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_NO_MATCHING_ABIS: Failed to extract native libraries, res=-113]

I'm interested in trying to use adbLink on Raspberry Pi 3 (RPi3) running Raspbian. I went to GitHub to download the source, but GitHub has not been updated since December 2016 (v2.07). Is adbLink now a closed-source application? If not, please provide a link for the latest source (v3.5). Thanks!

Nope, still GPL.  I depend on Time Machine, and admittedly have been lax about updating github.

Here's a link to current source:

I'll work on updating github rsn.

Can the Windows version be used this to add kodi/apks to Fire Tablets? if yes, are there any help files/instructions available?

Yes, adbLink can be used with Android tablets and phones. The setup is similar to Android TV, look in adbLink's help for instructions. If you get stuck, feel free to email jocala@jocala.com.

Hi jocala,

Since Xmas i have one of these nice Android-TV-Boxes....
I've installed Kodi18a (because of the Samba-Problem in Combination with the last Win10-Update), and SPMC17.6 (for PlexKodiConnect, not yet compatible with Kodi18a)

I saved both Configurations in adbLink (3.5), but every time in try to connect to SPMC i get connected with Kodi... maybe because its the same IP, and the first listed Device is the one with the Kodi-Configuration
The only way seems to manual change between the two Configurations in one saved Favorit

Can you check this please, or any suggestions how to avoid this?
