Solved DTS passthrough not working?
#1
Sad
Hi guys,
NVidia Shield TV is connected to the receiver via hdmi. The Nvidia shield is running on Kodi 17.6 with audio passthrough activated. Dolby works as intended, whereas DTS doesn’t. What do I do to get DTS passthrough working?

Thanks

To receive meaningful assistance you will need to provide a full debug log.

The instructions are here... debug log (wiki)

If you are using the Basic Method, then ensure the following is applied...
1.Enable debugging in Settings>System Settings>Logging,
2.Restart Kodi
3.Replicate the problem.

If you are using the Advanced Method ensure you have correctly created and applied the advancedsettings.xml file.

In both instances, you should see the word DEBUG throughout the log.

Note: Full logs only. No partial or redacted logs

My Nvidia Shield is connected to the TV via HDMI and the TV is connected to the AVR via HDMI ARC port.
Fortunately my TV supports passtrought (bitstream) over HDMI ARC port and I can use both Dolby Digital and DTS in passtrought.

Check if in Kodi you have "Sync playback to display" enabled, if yes try again by disabling it.
Kodi 18: Nvidia Shield TV (main device) and LibreELEC on Raspberry Pi 2 and Odroid C2
TV: Panasonic TX-55EZ950E (OLED)
AVR: Onkyo TX-NR509 (HDMI ARC)

Hi, I tried to do it. However, the folder where the log should be saved is empty. I don't know why.

Is the surround setting on the Shield set to "Auto".  I've found DTS won't work if it is set to "Always"

Yes it's on "auto" and sync playback to display is off.

My receiver support only HDMI 1.4. But I tried Popcorn Hour player and DTS, DTS HD works.
Sometimes KODI shows mi "unknown FLAC" against DTS track.
Sometimes KODI shows properly "DTS track" but on receiver display it's still multichannel PCM.

You need to turn on show hidden files/folders.

Your log does not use passthrough at all. Disable "Sync Playback to Display" and check if you have selected PT correctly.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Set "Number of channels" to 2.0 and try then.

You need to set the settings mode to Advance or Expert (where it shows Standard in your first pic), then select each individual supported codec.
