Release CinemaVision: Create a Movie Theater Experience at Home
(2017-12-13, 04:18)Charger Hellcat Wrote: It's Windows 10 with 17.6. I just get a list of local drives and access to the Kodi Appdata home folder. There's none of my added smb shared locations and no ability to add one. Make sediting a sequence to experiment with the new features rather difficult.
No matter what I do, I can't recreate this SMB issue on my end. Can you hit me with a new debug log? In the log, can you remove and re-add an SMB location and then try to set CinemaVision to use that location?

Also on random occasions when trailers are playing, it will start playing a movie instead of the next trailer. It’ll start randomly somewhere in a movie.

thx
Can I get a debug log from you when you see this behavior? Have you tried disabling the KodiDB scraper in your Trailer Module? I've never heard of the other behavior. When it starts randomly in the movie, is it a movie in your library that you've started in the past and wasn't finished or restarted?

A feature request. Can the content update be broken down into pieces, or perhaps the trailer update can be separated somehow?

I use trivia slides and apple trailers. The trivia slides are pretty much static. Apple trailers get updated on a daily basis. So when I do the content updates, I actually want to update the trailers.

The issue is, every time, the trivia slides are reimported, which takes several minutes on arm based devices. The trailer update takes about 2 seconds.

Is there anyway I can do just the apple trailer update without rescanning all the trivia slides?

Thanks
Breaking up the content update is not a bad idea at all. I'll add that to the list. Another thing you could try is automating the content update using the CinemaVision Service add-on which is currently in development. Download it here. Set it to update on a schedule, and have it kick off when you're not using your HTPC. I'll talk to our developer about the idea.

In particular my question in around the automation script portion of CinemaVisioon. I received some nanoleaf panels and am looking to automate them as part of my CinemaVision. I am able to control the lights using python but the problem is the code to interface to the lights is written in python 3. It looks like the CinemaVision automation action control will only spawn a python2 interpreter. Is there a way to use python3 for some scripts and python2 for others? I am utilizing this interface https://github.com/software-2/nanoleaf
Thanks,
The current stable release of Kodi uses Python 2, so we can't change that yet. I believe Python 3 is coming in Kodi 18, so this problem will solve itself once that's released and we update the code. Smile

I've set it up the way I like it as far as sequence. When I run the cinemavision as a test inside the add-on, it works; I see the bumpers, the trailers, etc. I have saved as "default" (name of the sequence).

When I try to load it from the context menu for a movie, the context menu for cinemavision pops up, where it gives me the option to play, cancel, etc. In the top right hand corner, there is no name for the sequence loaded. It's just a blank box. I can't select play, cancel, or anything. The only thing I can do is back out of the screen, which it does. It doesn't freeze or anything...it just doesn't do anything.

I'm running krypton 17.6, android, on shield tv.

Is there a way around this error? Can I make it so when I push enter on a movie, it'll start the sequence in case it's the context menu that's screwing it up?

Thanks for the amazing work! I really love the add-on (when it's working for me..Smile)
This sounds suspiciously like Conditional Sequences. We introduced that feature to allow you to create Sequences that would be automatically selected based on criteria like Genre, Studio, etc. Open the Sequence Editor, pick your Sequence, press C on your keyboard, and choose Sequence Settings. At the top, make sure that your Sequence is set to Active, and that it's not set to hide from the Queue Editor.

loving the cinemavision addon and after a bit of work I've managed to get it working nicely with Kodi DSPlayer.

I do however have a couple of little issues I'm trying to work out, so I'm here to pick your brains Smile

1. Despite having a pretty fast internet connection with 200meg download, I cannot get 1080p Apple trailers to play without so much stopping and buffering they are unwatchable. Is this a know issue with Apple trailers or is there a trick to make them work?
2. After my trailers and bumpers etc have finished and for a couple of seconds before the feature plays, I can see the Kodi interface. Is there any way to prevent this? It seems to be the only minor thing spoiling the cinema aesthetic for me right now.
We have that problem all the time with Apple. It's likely not your internet connection at all. I blame Apple for throttling. The only sure-fire way to get around that issue right now is to store all of your trailers locally, but that comes with its own limitations. We're working on other solutions and I hope to have a reliable trailer source soon. Check out this guide on the CinemaVision website if you want to hide that part of the interface.

Not an official one, yet. We don't start developing officially for new versions of Kodi until they're in beta.

I have 1.1.0 installed, and when I go into the trivia configuration under music I select directory but the only option I get is urepo, I installed the urepo repo to get TVTunes.  So I removed the repo and it's still showing Urepo as the only option. at the top I see www.urepo.net/install

what do I do to fix this?
You need to make sure that you've added a local source for your media in Kodi. Keep in mind that CinemaVision does not support streaming sources, and all of your media must exist in the Kodi database for the add-on to work. You also need a local place for your CinemaVision media. There are guides on the CinemaVision website that walk you through how to configure all of that.

My issue is that CV never seems to play the kind of trailers I want, and often shows me ones I've already seen.

In my Sequence I've got it set up to play two trailers from Apple, matching the genre of the feature, no ratings limit, and "choose unwatched over priority".

We watch 3-4 movies a week, so we see 6-8 trailers a week, yet it seems like the vast majority of the time, all we see are trailers for kiddie CG crap, indie movies, and subtitled foreign films. And we often see these multiple times. I'm not sure we've ever gotten a trailer for a Marvel movie, Star Wars, or any other kind of blockbuster type movie or big Hollywood film. When I go to the itunes movie trailer website in my browser and look at the three pages of "just added" trailers, we have never gotten any of those currently up except The Grinch and Mary Poppins. Never gotten Tomb Raider, Ant Man, Avengers, Solo, Annihilation, etc.

Am I doing something wrong? Why do I keep getting trailers I've already seen?

Also, would it be possible to add a MINIMUM trailer rating? We honestly have zero interest in ever seeing trailers for the Minions, Wreck-It Ralphs, and Ice Ages.
Reply
Just an update, I just checked the Apple trailers page, they have almost 100 trailers up on 3 pages of "just added", and we've seen exactly one of them. But for some reason we've seen a tiny handful of other trailers 2-3 times each even though I have "prioritize unwatched" checked.

Doesn't seem to matter if I match genre and/or rating or not.

I've just built a new (old) HTPC and tried importing some CV sequences that I had working before. They are all saying they are inactive and when I set them to Active I am not able to save the sequence. I get an error that says Kodi might not be able to save to the directory or something.

I can also not set any other folders up for Trailers or something other than a small list of Kodi system folders or the CV folder. There is no option for local hard drive folders or network folders and I need to access both.

Any ideas what may be going on?

Uh oh...have the devs ceased development on this addon?

 @Ragnarok

I did use the service add-on, which works really well on dedicated kodi boxes. However, I have some fire tvs that run kodi alongside other apps like netflix, amazon prime, etc. and because kodi is not running 24/7, the service add-on isn't that useful there. I also tried setting the service addon to run after kodi start, but since the whole update process takes several minutes, the fire tv was not really usable for a few minutes every time I fired up kodi. I have since turned that off. If I could set the service add-on to only update the apple trailers during kodi start, that would be the best option as it only takes a second or two.

Thanks

So this was kind of interesting. I re-installed Cinema Experience, and maybe it was a coincidence, but it seems to have the buffering problem less often than I've been having with CV -- only two trailers out of 5 runs of 3 trailers each -- and unlike CV, when it does happen, it usually works if I let it cache 5-10 seconds or so and the un-pause it. CV, no matter how long I pause it, will still only play a few seconds once I start it again before buffering again.

Also, CE consistently plays the big new trailers on itunes -- the stuff that comes up when you go to the itunes trailer webpage which defaults to Just Added -- rather than CV which for some reason always seems to be heavily weighted toward no-budget direct to video junk or subtitled foreign movies. Not that there's anything wrong with those and sometimes it's nice to get clued in to something I've never heard of that seems interesting, but mainly we'd like to see trailers for the bigger movies.

If CV is updated, it would be cool to add more options to what kind of trailers are wanted -- if it sticks with itunes, giving us options for their categories for examples -- Just Added, Most Popular, etc, rather than just by genre.

The latest development version 1.1.1a8 works very well on Kodi 18 Leia. The "special://" path also works. Thanks for the update!

Is there any way to list videos in "Extras" folders for a movie in the CV dialog if the CV is invoked from the movie information dialog/context menu? Currently only the movie is listed in the big dialog, the bottom part of the dialog is empty, which is kind of waste space, I think it's a good place to list Trails and Extras there.

Hey Ragnarok, can you ask the developer to "wake" the GUI before each trailer/bumper? I'm using the Vero 4K and more often than not the screen remains blank/black when a new trailer or bumper plays in the sequence. I can "wake" the screen (not sure if that's the right word) by activating something on the GUI -- controls, media info, even the KODI volume -- and only then can I see the video again, until the next trailer/bumper.

Hi,
I know that this is not a normal request but can someone (who have an account an cinemavision.tv) please so kindly and ask the admins of cinemavision if their registration system is down? I also tried the service request but the I didn’t get also any response.
Tried to register myself for the last few days with different emails addresses but I never get the Registration confirmation mail.
I'm running Kodi v18 Leia - Beta 1 and I would like to test and use the new Cinemavision.
Many thx

 Mogli42,
I just checked the registration for cinemavision.tv and it appears to be working properly.  Did you check your spam folder to see if the sign-up email went in there?
