How is your NUC connected to the AVR? How is the AVR connected to the TV? Do you use ARC between TV and AVR?

You can't, this information is provided by the audio driver to Kodi.
Do you always make sure the AVR is powered on before the NUC? if at all unsure reboot the NUC while the AVR is on.
