Do you know if it's possible to view 4k content on the KD55AF9? It seems from discussions on here that it isn't possible?
I play every 4k videos without any issues.

Can the developers make Kodi run on WebOS of LG TV? It's so perfect.

First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

My  z9f plays most 4K content fine.

Compare to shield TV, it does has some problems.
Both SPMC and Kodi 18 have micro shudder with Dynasties UHD REMUX, for example,  20 seconds from start of S01E01 or E02.
Not sure this can be fixed by setting, I tried turn off motion options, but same result.

Hello there. I bought AF9 too. I downloaded the modified .apk file on page 4 box.com. (kodi-armv7a-20190107-93e9045.apk)

But I don't know how to install it using the X-plore program. Can you tell in detail?

750d user, oreo installed, kodi works fine here, version 18. rc 4

i highly doubt they purposely blocked kodi, if you can sideload an kodi 17 version on an AF9 and it works ... where is the thought process that sony has blocked kodi?

Hi - in order to clarify the real issue, we just build two new version with simple changes:

a) sonyamazon see: https://github.com/fritsch/xbmc/commit/6...68c6b6d083
b) sonyrandom see https://github.com/fritsch/xbmc/commit/6...e745d56268

It would be nice if someone with the affected TVs could please test both these build, which are uploaded in some minutes here: http://mirrors.kodi.tv/test-builds/android/ for ARM and ARM64

I hope they build through - as we don't fake PACKAGE_IDs every day.

Thanks much for your help on this.

Official Update: After publication of this article a Sony PR representative told TorrentFreak that the company does not curate recommended apps. The representative added that Kodi is just one of several thousands of apps on the Google Play store and Sony has no ability to block these apps and does not do so. We’re seeking further clarification.
