v19 LibreELEC Testbuilds for RaspberryPi (Kodi 19.0)
(2019-06-10, 18:05)Milhouse Wrote: This seems to be misreporting free memory - it's being investigated. Thanks for reporting!

@germa18 This should be fixed now in #0610 - memory stats reported in the Kodi GUI should match free -m and top exactly. Thanks for bringing this to our attention!

Are you still seeing issues with #0610? Next time you experience out of memory please upload your journalctl -a, and if Kodi crashes a Kodi crash log. Also it would help if you can narrow down when this issue started - testing with a clean ".kodi" would help rule out any add-on issues.
Texture Cache Maintenance Utility: Preload your texture cache for optimal UI performance. Remotely manage media libraries. Purge unused artwork to free up space. Find missing media. Configurable QA check to highlight metadata issues. Aid in diagnosis of library and cache related problems.

I haven't added the driver, only added the missing firmware, as the driver is in-tree and maintained by the kernel developers - leaving it enabled (and including the firmware) may mean if/when the issues are fixed there's nothing more LibreELEC has to do (other than bump the kernel, of course). It would be worth opening a kernel bug report for the wifi issues you are experiencing with your hardware: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/
Fully understood and thanks for your help thus far, appreciated. With the little skill and knowledge I have I have reported the issue here https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=203657. cheers k.
Hi Milhouse, well I am still seeing the same WiFi drop outs with the Netgear A6210 as I described in post #92 above. No one has picked up my bug report (although it might be what I wrote in it, as I'm no expert).

Is it correct (from what I understood in your comment above) that if e.g. there are changes to the mt76x2 drivers (there have been some recent ones here https://github.com/openwrt/mt76/tree/master/mt76x2), all I need to do is wait until these go into the kernel, then you will eventually update Libreelec to include the latest Kernel (which has these changes?).

cheers
k.

Yes, if those openwrt changes are submitted to the mainline kernel (and accepted) then the changes will appear in a future LibreELEC. Lorenzo Bianconi (LorenzoBianconi on github) is one of the kernel maintainers for the MT76 driver so a good person to speak with if you are having issues but raising those issues via the kernel bugzilla (as you have done) is the correct approach as you are using the in-tree driver and not the driver from the openwrt repo. If any of the kernel maintainers suggest a patch that might fix your problem then let me know and I can include it for testing.

after that i tried the playback via smb which worked. so i installed emby and updated the Database, and restarted kodi. than i started an episode and after like 3 minuted i hit several buttons and kodi froze. here is the crash log

http://ix.io/1L5T

That isn't a crash log, or at least it doesn't _include_ a crash log - did Kodi actually crash after your fresh install (if not this would explain the absence of any crash log). I'm guessing Kodi froze but didn't crash - if you enable debug logging and reproduce this would include more information, but it would also be interesting if #0604e behaves differently in this situation. This could also be a completely unrelated Emby bug of course...

so i tried it again. new system than updated to the newest lobreelec version, emby installed.
i started one episode and it was loading and loading for more than 10 minutes than i hit "back" and started another episode and kodi froze since i couldnt click anything etc so i rebooted the pi

here is the normal and the crash log i hope one of them helps

Occurs sporadically.

Do you know when this started, or can identify when it started? It could be a kernel bump (5.1.7, 5.1.5 etc.). There's going to be a new 5.1.8 kernel tonight.

Same problem using latest version #0614 ... external USB Wifi crash: http://ix.io/1LTt
The problem appears after #0509 build. Seems 5.1 kernel, broke USB wifi Sad

I've taken down #0615 as there is a fairly major issue that seems to be caused by the updated PR13721 (GUI freezes at end of playback). #0615b will be along shortly.

i started one episode and it was loading and loading for more than 10 minutes than i hit "back" and started another episode and kodi froze since i couldnt click anything etc so i rebooted the pi

here is the normal and the crash log i hope one of them helps

normal: http://ix.io/1LSi
crash: http://ix.io/1LSj

Your crash log doesn't include any evidence of a crash, so I'm guessing your system has never actually crashed, and is either busy or freezing.

Your log says you're still using #0605 but you said you were using "newest lobreelec version" which would be #0614 at the time of writing, did you try updating to a more recent version such as #0614?

If you are rebooting the RPi then uploading your current log won't include any relevant information - we'd need to see kodi.old.log which is only available from the ssh command line with cat /storage/.kodi/temp/kodi.log | pastebinit.

That said, I missed the edit from your previous post:

so it seems to be emby related. so i will still try an clean kodi enviourment, since if it is really emby i will need to stay on 604e because emby wont make changes to solve bugs for kodi19 until the end of 2019 or even 2020....

and while im writing this, the episode was trying to start since 5 minutes and it worked on 605. so it seems that after starting an episode it takes like 5 minutes to start, but when i hit any button during that start process my raspberry freezes

Yes, this does seem to be Emby related.

To a large extent it's understandable if third-party add-on maintainers don't want to get involved investigating issues with their add-ons and bleeding edge Kodi 19 builds, but they're only storing up problems for themselves and their users until just before Kodi 19 is released, or even once Kodi 19 is released. Which is unfortunate, IMHO.

There's not really very much I can do to help in this situation, as I don't have the bandwidth to support third-party addons that don't work with Kodi 19 alphas, particularly if the add-on maintainers don't want to help either.

This particular problem - which might need fixing in Emby, or maybe it is a Kodi issue, or even a bit of both - will just have to wait until the end of the Kodi 19 development cycle when someone from Emby is willing to investigate and help identify the problem. If you're very lucky, another add-on will be affected in a similar way and the add-on maintainer of the second add-on will be willing to investigate the Kodi 19 issue so that the underlying problem might be found - if that requires a fix in Kodi 19 then at some point Emby might work again with Kodi 19.

For the time being all I can suggest is that you don't use these bleeding edge test builds with Emby, and this Emby issue (and maybe other, as yet unknown, Emby issues) will have to be resolved at the last minute, or after Kodi 19 is released. And very little sympathy might be available to Emby from Kodi developers if the Emby add-on is now permanently broken.
