Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows
I've used it. DSPlayer doesn't interfere in any way.

I'm trying to compile Kodi 17.6 DSPlayer from @aracnoz's repository for Windows to making regression testing to go to the last Kodi version but I don't find how to do that. Someone have a clue? Smile

No, unfortunately, you would have to ask a question like that in another thread where a developer could reply.

Yes, you're right! I can't find a way to send a message to aracnoz on Github or here on the forum, so I would try to tag him/her here to have an hope. Smile
But finally, I find how to do on Kodi's wiki...

Hi guys,

I have installed ReClock, but in audio render in DSPlayer is not displayed Sad

What can I do?

Thanks!

ReClock is 32-bit, so you have to install the 32-bit DSPlayer build.

There are two instructions available:
For Kodi V17 and Kodi V18

Are you trying to update DSPlayer to v18? Do I get this right?
For troubleshooting and bug reporting please make sure you read this first (usually it's enough to follow instructions in the second post).

Hi,

Hoping @Warner306 or someone as smart can chime in and help me with this.

Up until last year, my MadVR setup was working perfectly with my 1080ti. I don't use my HTPC for anything other than MadVR.

Suddenly, since January this year, my MadVR has dropped frames like crazy despite me not tinkering with the settings. What's worse, is that sometimes I play a movie and it works fine but then during other times the dropped frames are back. I'm so confused. Completely ruins movie night. I first noticed this with First Man and Life but the problem is consistent across a number of discs.

I read up on forums and even reverted back my Nvidia driver to v388.xx but this hasn't resolved the issue.

Can anyone recommend what I should do? I'll attach some screenshots of my settings/ mad vr stats below as soon as I can but the present queue just doesn't fill up.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Thanks

EDIT - Please look at image album to show all settings and stats

It is difficult to tell from your screenshots. Some of the ones that show rendering stats have low rendering times, but the present queue is empty. If you rendering times are low, this could be an issue with network latency, video driver issues or something introduced by a Windows update.

I would try to play a high-bitrate file locally to rule out network latency. I'd also try different types of hardware decoding in LAV Video, unchecking all of the trade quality for performance checkboxes and even backing up my settings.bin and resetting madVR to its defaults from the installation folder.

The worst possible problem would be a present queue that won't fill because of a major Windows update. I only way I know how to fix that is to use image scalers that are not NGU. You could also try that.

Thanks for your reply.

I have tried to play local files without DSPlayer and they play fine so that rules out the issue with network.

I have also tried to reset settings but the strange thing is that despite the reset, and every setting at default, the problem persists. So this is beyond dsplayer/madvr settings at this stage.

Surely if it was a windows issue, others would have reported the same problem? I also thought it may be a video driver issue but then why do 1080p files at ultra high play perfectly? It's just the 4K giving me issues and more specifically I think it's HDR in particular. I just don't know where to go next.

"I'd also try different types of hardware decoding in LAV Video" Could you please elaborate on this? Seems to be the only thing I'm yet to try as I've not played with dsplayer settings.

Also, just last weekend Saturday I sat through Interstellar just fine in 4k, but the next day Dark Knight just wouldn't stop dropping frames right from the off. And this was without messing with any settings. Seems to be very random.

If the problem only happens with HDR content, it could be something to do with the video drivers. Are you using HDR passthrough or tone map HDR using pixel shaders with SDR output?

If you've never tried to configure LAV Filters, it seems more likely that is the issue. Hardware decoding might not be activated in LAV Video.

In either case, I would follow the instructions at the end of this post to update the internal version of LAV Filters with a newer version:

https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid...pid1966566

Then set hardware acceleration in LAV Video to D3D11 Automatic (Native).

Warner 306, my curiosity, why in my system "DXVA2 (copy-back)" has better rendering times than "D3D11"? at the level of visual quality I don't know the difference, but with DXVA2 (copy-back) the rendering times are lower !!! it may be that I have a pretty powerful cpu (i5 7600k) and 16gb of RAM 2133 HG so it helps the decoder?

It shouldn't work that way. But it could. I wouldn't worry about it and choose the decoder with the best performance. All things being equal, they should perform about the same, but there are exceptions.
