FYI I tested #0805 as I saw some docker related fixes land (Docker: updated to 18.09.8 (PR:3741, 2 commits, 4 files changed)) as well as #0809 but both do not work.  I thus reverted back to #0713.

Unfortunately, I won't have time in the next weeks to bisect the kernel as you suggested.  However, I will be able to test new nightly builds.  Hope that will still help.

Yes sorry the changelog just reflects the changes in the LibreELEC master repository, there's no specific Docker-related changes in these test builds - the repository change relates to the Docker add-on which should be being rebuilt (if it isn't already - will try and get an update on that).

raoulbhatia the updated docker add-on should be available - it should be listed as version 9.80.1.127, from the docker changelog:
text:

127
- Update to docker 18.09.8

Make sure you have this version installed - if not try a forced repository update, or remove/reinstall.

Thanks for the quick reply.  I ensured that the docker addon was updated to the proper version and then again upgraded to #0805.

2019-08-10 13:12:59.412 T:1932203728 NOTICE: CAddonMgr::FindAddons: service.system.docker v9.80.1.127 installed

My observations:
  • Docker doesn't start during regular boot.  systemctl start docker worked during my first test run.
  • I then needed to start the containers manually, i.e.
    • systemctl start docker.linuxserver.portainer.service
    • systemctl start docker.linuxserver.mariadb.service
  • After systemctl restart kodi, Kodi successfully conntected to my mariadb.
This is definitely an improvement.  However, I am still puzzled why docker and/or containerd fail/s to start during regular boot.  This is the error message from systemctl status docker

I don't really know anything about Docker. Do you have the same behaviour if you install the official 9.1.002 (you should be able to downgrade from #0805 to 9.1.002)? Assuming this latest version of Docker is backward compatible with the older 4.19.y kernel in 9.1.002 (and I believe it should be) then if you still have startup problems it would be better to open a thread on the LibreELEC forum to address the Docker issue as this might be a new regression with the latest Docker add-on.

Just tried the bluetooth function with headphones for the first time, it worked great, but did require altering the audio settings between bluetooth and HDMI/Analog. Would there be any chance for a priority setting for bluetooth? I.E.  if bluetooth is available it plays through bluetooth, if not, audio comes through HDMI without the need to enter Setup and change settings?

There is a bluetooth audio switcher add-on in the LibreELEC repo, I think that will do what you want.

how is the status about RRPi 4 (4K playback and so on)? should i install the RPi2 builds?

thanks

Continue to use the official 9.2 Alpha build (currently 9.1.002) for RPi4 - the RPi2 builds won't work on RPi4.
