Alright I will have another go at it later this evening I will do a complete reinstall on my part for test and I will add more feed back for debugging.
I know it is inconvenient but I promise it was working on mind before I zipped everything up.

When using the 'stream' setting it does work like you said. First it's black but it's starting to stream.
My initial setting was 'local', I've downloaded all the streams but then the screens stays black... thank you for looking into it.

Thank you all for testing. I have added some debugging that will show-up in the logs until I bump the release # so keep that in mind as it may log directories when using local videos as I add that paths to the playlist. Look at the setting again as they have also changed. Video download size warning has increased as noticed 1 was 700+mb.
You still have 2 options stream or local. "playback quality" is for streaming only i will change that to "Streaming playback quality" on the next release. And the second playback option is for local and download quality. I added a few more pop ups to provide more information when needed.
Hitcher I removed the My Videos option for now. But it will be allow you to add a folder of local videos you want to use as a video screensaver.
If you all will update and let me know how it works for you or whats not working with a debug would be great. Thanks hopefully I have it fixed this time.

Things are working great now! One request though when playig music (not using visualisation), can you make an option that the screensaver wont start?

I don't know if I can check if there are visualisations or not but I think I can check if the player is playing music. So with that I can add a option to not play if player has music playing. Only issue I see with that is when the music stops the screensaver will have already been called so it will not magically kick in until it is called again.

Post full debug log with log level 2 so that I can see my scripts debug. Looks like your streaming, does your device support HEVC? Maybe a Kodi or network issue. Addon sent the playlist it is up to Kodi's Builtin player to play the video.
Get the full log and we can narrow it down a little more as it will tell me which verison your using and what the device is. I may have to add a H264 option for videos as of now it is using HEVC for both HD and 4K videos.

So I retested and forced with just that video and it works for me. Just for giggles turn off Hong Kong Location and see if it works. Also if the video fails to load press the arrow to the right to go to the next video.

I have added options for audio playback. Stop audio which the screensaver with override whatever is playing,
Resume on end, which will monitor the player and wait until the audio playlist ends then it will begin.
And Play audio option for you so that it does nothing while audio is playing.
Also I have added options for video playback. If a video is paused it will play the screensaver and it will resume the original video ten seconds earlier.
I have it working now I just want to test a little more before pushing as it could easily break something.

Same problem for any video, not only HK.
See logs, when I start the screensaver, and hit "right" to change video.
No video loading, HTTP error 400 every time.
I see in your signature you have a Shield, did you try your plugin with it, in streaming mode (haven't tried with download option but I guess Kodi will fail anyway)

I'm trying to set a download location but can't seem to succeed doing so.
I have the following choices :
- NFS --> does nothing when I select this
- Root --> does nothing when I select this
- SMB --> display an empty browser
- External storage --> display the /storage/emulated/0 folder content
I'd like to se a NFS share as download location, how can I manage to do so?
