If you untick send meta data it tone maps to SDR, if you tick send meta date it provides a MADVR HDR tone mapped image which is better than my TV provides. This is for TVs and projectors with low nits, it helps to boost the dynamics and recover highlight detail etc, the work MADSHI has done with this is fantastic.
Can't really tell at this point. If there is a simple unintrusive diff-patch or link the exact differences of code which contain only the mentioned fix, i can take a look. (Of course the workaround has be compatible Kodi 17 - don't know if it is.)
But i can't do my own full research in the Kodi HDR Edition thread and according GitHub. All my existing time is already spent on the other stuff. :-)
Side question: Why even use HDR passthrough? madVR HDR tone mapping should be always better anyway.
I actually hoping MADSHI can put a force BT2020 flag in somewhere into MADVR or at least add an option to use the windows API instead of AMD's own broken API, he's very busy trying to get ENVY out of the door but he acknowledges the issue and I think he knows how to do it.
Anything you can do would be appreciated but like you say, it will have to go on the backburner for now as you have other stuff which is more pressing, totally understand mate.
