Because you have it set to do so. The options are "Browse" (which makes them open the "details" browser) or "Play/Open" (which makes them do what the default action inside Kodi is. If you want that default action to stay as "Play", then just open information in the item.

AH isn't skinning TMDbHelper, either. TMDbHelper is a distinct addon, which AH is displaying just as any other. The only "custom skinning" that would maybe be relevant are those in the "Discover" menus, but that's kind of a different story.
Ok, just thought it would be a nice feature, especially for TMDBH widgets on the home screen. To be a able to open the skinned TMDB details by default instead of just playing it.
If you want to see the info screen press the i key, this is a global function of Kodi which works the same on every part of the system. All addons and widgets will display info on an i keypress as its a core function, what you are asking for is against the core functions of Kodi and will only serve to annoy users. Pressing Enter to view info makes no sense.

You dont think I know how to get to info already? I do, thanks, but like i said it would be useful for just TMDBH, not throughout the whole skin. Its fine, dont worry about it, not sure why its such a sensitive topic with you guys. Just a feature suggestion I thought would be nice, thats all. Have a great day.

I didn't know if you knew how to get to info or not, from what you were posting you didn't seem to. Press i for info works across the whole system, it makes no sense to change that for one specific addon. Nobody sees it as a sensitive topic, we were just trying to understand why you were requesting it when you could simply press i like you do in every other part of Kodi.

I dont think your understanding. In TMDBH, it has the option already to either Open/Play, or Browse when you make a selection. When its set to Browse, it opens the un-skinned TMDBH "Details List". All I was asking is if was possible to have the option to open the skinned Info/Details list instead, thats all. Not trying to change any core Kodi functions.

As I understand it, you want to show the info screen when you press enter on a Movie. What I don't understand is why you can't just press i to view this information. But anyway I won't continue to debate it, if the author wants to add this functionality that's his call Smile

Well, first of all, i dont have an "i" button on my Shield remote, i have to pull up the context menu. I would just prefer to open the Aractic Horizon skinned info window because it has everything in one place, Play, Movie Info, Trailer, Trakt options, etc. Most importantly, its useful and it looks great!!! Makes sense to me to just default to opening that window on click. Just my preference thats all.

Any help appreciated.
You could setup a Smart Playlist which should work, like this:

I did as suggested but the widget is still showing items which have been watched (and shows the green tick). 😥

It worked for me, are you pointing AH at the Smart Playlist and not the in-built Random Movies Playlist?

Got to agree with the others I think it would look better if the second widget row wasn’t visible until you scroll down and then becomes the top widget ?
I think this with the option to remove the header title (top left as previously mentioned) and the option to include the clear logo in center (like AZ2) and it would be absolutely perfect [emoji1303][emoji1303][emoji1303][emoji1303]

Top job as always

It's just not really a possibility. The skinning engine pretty much gives no control over the on screen position of items in a group list. I'm already using a series of incredibly complex tricks to get the current positioning. To get a widget to move always to the top row is very difficult to do without breaking a ton of things.

The current approach is necessary in order to have a setup where the second widget can have info (ie mimic the showcase hub on home since I had to remove the option to replace the fullscreen widget with the hub due to issues it was causing). The complexity of an option to switch between another further style is just not feasible.

Option to disable header is already on my todo list on github.

Personally I preferred the old view with the icons to the right, and the ratings seem unneccessary, if I'm already watching something I don't really need to know the ratings. Would it be possible to have an option to disable the ratings on the OSD? And perhaps the icons would look better above the plot if you don't want them aligned to the right?

Yeah I think I agree. I was trying to standardise the layout of the info so that it was the same across the skin -- after using it for a bit though, it definitely feels like a bit too much going on for the OSD. I've hidden the ratings and moved the codecs back to the right side on latest version.
That's great, I just tried the latest version & it looks a lot cleaner now Smile One thing I noticed was the "Finishes at XX:XX" at the bottom of the screen, previously it was prefixed with the Title, not sure if that was a deliberate change or if it has been missed. It looks a bit bare now but that may just be that I'm not used to it.

Yeah I removed it because duplication of info. Plus I've had a few shows recently with a long title that caused it to scroll which was really painful.

It does feel a bit bare at first but you get used to it quickly. Also I've got an idea to show the title in a different position which I'll implement soon.

What you see when "browse" is set is just a folder in the plugin with shortcuts to other folders in the plugin. That details page is never "skinned". Unlike extendedinfo, tmdbhelper doesn't use a separate scripted window for the info dialog. There is no "skinned" info dialog at all - TMDbHelper "info" is literally Kodi's same native info dialog that is used for library items.

Plugins should never override Kodi's default select action. You might think the plugin's play/browse switch already does that but it doesn't. It only changes the folder shortcut the item points to (it's like if you have a desktop shortcut that opens a folder of documents and you change it to point to a specific document instead).

Opening the native info dialog requires the Action(Info) command to be called - so for a plugin to force that IS changing core functionality because it requires overriding the user's keymap. Changing/overriding user keymap actions is generally forbidden for Kodi addons other than in very special cases (e.g. keymap editor).

Hi

I was playing around with the Home Screen menus (using version 0.5.23) and noticed that when using the Showcase Hub, Play and Information buttons were displayed that didn't seem to perform any action. Thanks for a great skin.

That's because you haven't got a fullscreen widget configured for the hub.
