@billyrene , I really do not know what could be going on in your case.  The only way I can think of, for the dim not to be there, is that the texture that is the dim overlay cannot be found in your system.  What OS and Kodi version are you using? Please let me know, since it might be a letter casing issue if you are using any version of Linux (LibreELEC, CoreELEC, etc.) or Android.  Thanks.

no problem. thank YOU!!! now that the dim is working i just noticed one more thing. 

i'll best show you: in the screenshot i'm in file view, fanart, dimmed and i am using some folder images with transparent backgrounds. now as you see the highlighted folder has the transparent background as intended but the other folders to the left and the right have this dark square around them. as soon as i highlight them the dark square becomes transparent.




this only happens when i use the dim. if the dim is on 0% all the images are tranparent:




anything that can be done here to make them transparent if the dim is active?

@billyrene , the way I implemented the dim was to overlay an image on top of the item, and that image is darkened according to the dim level selected.  I understand how it does not look good for items which are not movies, tv shows, etc.  I will change it so that the dim is only applied to media items.  I will include this in the next skin update.

Terms to translate :
Here are the terms that remain to be translated into French (terms framed in red) :

Error message with TheMovieDB Helper :
I don't know if it's related to this update but I noticed a bug.
On a TV Show or an episode, with the title that has accented characters, when I press the info key to display the video info window for that episode, I get an error message from TheMovieDB Helper but the window is displayed correctly.
I have TheMovieDB Helper 2.4.36 installed from the official Kodi repository.

I didn't get this error message when displaying the video info window of a movie for example.
This problem does not occur with the Estuary skin.

It reminds me of a similar issue with Embuary Helper Script that was fixed with an update :

Scrolling text :
Another thing I noticed, in the Kodi settings, when the text exceeds the width of a column it will scroll so that it can read all the text.
Some terms remain fixed and are therefore cut.
In the Interface section :

@Cyberdom , thanks for your feedback.  The updated translations will be in the next skin update.  As for the scrolling labels in settings, I do not control each one from the skin (except in the Skin Settings), Kodi does.  What I will do is make the default font that is shown in settings a little smaller, which, from my tests, makes it so that none of the labels that you pointed out scroll in French.  That change will also be in the next skin update.

In terms of tmdb helper, my only recommendation would be to update the addon to a newer version, and to keep it updated using jurialmunkey's repo.

I saw indeed that you had reduced the size of the text in the parameters, but like @shedrock, I find the new text size a bit too small. Terms that were problematic are no longer broken.
However, I saw that it also decreases the size of the text that is below the posters in the fanart view.
Would it be possible for this text under the posters to change the size we had before or slightly increase the new one ?

As far as TheMovieDB Helper goes, the weird thing is that this problem only occurs with TV shows and not with movies.

@shedrock , would you be willing to test the latest from GitHub? I have provided three options for default font size: Small, Regular and Large.  Regular is the default.  You will find a ne skin setting here:

Thesse changes should affect primarily the settings area, context menus and select dialogs, but not media views.  I did not want to upload to the Amber repos until more testing is done, so that I can find out if I missed any areas that now look bad in one of the new sizes (Large or Small).

@shedrock , I hope you don't mind testing from GitHub again.  I have included Now Playing functionality, including video preview.  Only for the horizontal menu for now.  @"Mr.V" was very kind to let me use his code and textures from Madnox, and I have adapted them for Amber.

There is a new skin settings section "Now Playing", which has all of the settings for this functionality.  I will let you experiment and let me know what you like and don't like, and what you would like to see different.  Please note that if you decide to show video in the background, you will not be able to have a video preview in Now Playing, as it doesn't make any sense.  The new settings section looks like this:
