I thought once I have it highlighted it would display that particular background. If that's the case then it's either not working, or I am missing some switch as I usually do. Big Grin

@shedrock , thanks for bringing this to my attention.  I added the ability to add a background to submenu items for the case where you use the submenu as a widget, so that the widget items would have a background, but I have not added the code to show the background in the case of just normal submenu items.  I will add this in the next skin update.

Hi. I use Kodi 19 (currently 19.0-BETA1-r56760-git+cd10b42a84) and I do not see Amber listed in the Kodi 19 repo. So, if I want to try this skin, I need to 1) add the Amber matrix repo from here, 2) also install a modified version of script.skin.helper.widgets from that repo, 3) add a beta repo from marcelveldt here and install other dependencies from there? Will there be a clean, fully working version of this in the official Kodi repo at some point? Not sure I was to mess around with special mods and betas of stuff, I'd much rather prefer just going with what's officially available.

@teriyaki , I will be submitting a new version of Amber to the Kodi Matrix repo next week.  If you do not want to wait until then, all you need is to download and install the Amber Matrix repo from: https://github.com/bartolomesoriano/repo...-1.0.2.zip

Then install Amber from that repo.  There is no longer any dependency on skin helper widgets or any skin helper addons.  The only other recommendations I have, for experiencing the full Amber functionality, are to install script.embuary.helper (it is on the Kodi Matrix repo), plugin.video.themoviedb.helper and script.skinvariables (install from the repo here: https://github.com/jurialmunkey/reposito...matrix.zip).

Hello all,

To those of you on Leia and that update the skin from GitHub, there is an important change in the Leia branch of the skin's GitHub.  I have made the use of script.embuary.helper and plugin.video.themoviedb.helper totally optional.  You now need to enble their use in the skin settings, as they are disabled by default.  The new settings are here:

This is on GitHub only at this time, and only for Leia.  This is a big change, so I wanted some more testing to occur before releasing a new version to the Amber repo.  Please let me know, if you do update from GitHub, if you find any issues.  Thanks.

Bart

@shedrock , the changes are already on GitHub.  Please see my last post on another (big) change that is on GitHub as well.  Thanks.

Thanks for such a quick response! It's great to hear the new version has less dependencies and only one that needs its own repo (script.skinvariables). I would like to try to full Amber but think I'll wait the week to get it from the official repo. My new thing is going minimalist in terms of addons, and go official repo only unless absolutely unavoidable. In this case since WAF is linked to skins so closely, I'm willing to bend for script.skinvariables. Smile

Thanks again Bart. I'll be sure to check it and let you know how it works.

@rimasx , thanks.  Kodi is now using a new translation system which is not yet open to all users, so these changes might not be in the next version of the skin.  For sure in the version after next.

Hello all,

I have uploaded versions 3.2.122 (Leia) and 3.4.11 (Matrix) to GitHub and the Amber repos.  This is mainly a bug fix version.

The only new functionality is the following:

1.  Embuary Helper and TMDb Helper addons are completely optional. With this new version, you need to explicitly enable the use of these addons via Amber settings.  The new settings can be found here:

Image
It is important to note that both settings are set to "No" by default.

What is not available in Amber if you do not enable the use of these addons?

a. There will be no online lookups in the video info dialog.  This means that you will not see the person info dialog when looking up an actor, director, etc. online.
b. Ratings will not be looked up online, so in order to show ratings (RT, Metacritic, etc.) you need to have them loaded in your database
c. When you click on any of the items in the custom info lists shown in the video info dialog, you will not be taken to the info dialog for the item; instead, the item will play.
d. You will see only a smaller subset of the custom info lists in the video info dialog.
e. You will not be able to jump directly to a tv show or season from an episode video info dialog.
f. The "match colors" for matching the highlight color around items to the item poster color is not available.
g. The "mouse-friendly" version of the alphabet strip is not available.
h. The "blur background" option for the video info dialog is not available.
i. You will not be able to switch color themes (the skin pre-defined ones) from the skin Color settings.

I do recommend that you install both embuary helper (from the Kodi repo) and tmdb helper (from jurialmunkey's repo for now) in order to experience the most complete functionality in Amber.  However, I thought it was important to give  you the option to do so, and to not limit standard functionality in Amber if those addons are not in use or enabled.

I also fixed some issues that have been reported lately, such as:

- Overlay (watched, in progress, etc.) was not being shown in list type views for files.
- Trailers would not play from the video info dialog if tmdb helper was not present.
- Play button in video info dialog would not do anything unless a very recent version of tmdb helper was present.
- Plot was shown twice (one overlapping the other) for collections in the Gallery section in Fanart view.
- Submenu background was not being shown even when a background had been configured.
- Default background was not being shown for Now Playing items, even when the option to show Default background was enabled.
- Media flags were being cut off in list type views when HDR/SDR an color bit depth flags were enabled.
- Movies in the collection were not being shown in the video info dialog for sets in Matrix.
- Vertical alignment of favourite icons needed to be improved in the favourites dialog.

Finally, the translations have been updated as of yesterday from Kodi's new weblate translation system.

Please download, test, and let me know if you find any issues.  Thanks.

I am particularly interested in hearing from the users that are testing with Matrix, as I am planning to submit Amber 3.4.11 to the official Kodi Matrix repo, and want to ensure that it does not have any lingering issues.  Thank you in advance.

Regards,

Bart

Thanks for this update @bsoriano. I haven't checked everything yet, but so far I haven't seen any bugs.
I just had to enable the use of Embuary Helper to keep having fanart scrolling through the Movies, TV Shows and Music menu items.

It's okay, the movie summary no longer overlaps the list of movies in collections.

The French translations look correct.
Here are the French translations for the new elements :

1. Enable use of TMDb Helper : Activer l'utilisation de TMDb Helper
2. Enable use of Embuary Helper : Activer l'utilisation de Embuary Helper

Hi, first of all sorry for my english.

I am still using kodi 17.6 because the skin amber was officialy supported. I have tried to upgrade to kodi 18.9 and install amber skin.amber-3.2.122.zip (from https://github.com/bartolomesoriano/repo....2.122.zip) but I get an error:

Here is my log file:  https://paste.kodi.tv/taqisipufe.kodi

am I doing something wrong?

Thanks in advance

@clamatac, you should install the Amber repo first, from https://github.com/bartolomesoriano/repo...-1.0.1.zip, and then install Amber from the repo inside Kodi. That way you will keep it updated.

Your log shows that your system did not recognize the zip file as a zip file, there might have been an issue with the download.

Please let me know if you were able to install the repo correctly. Thanks.

Bart
