Release Aeon TAJO - Matrix

I should have given this feedback earlier but better late than never. The new MPAA ratings are awesome, they are very consistent with the skin texture and they look great. I don't mean the ones in screenshot above.
Life is short, I don't have time for squabbles. Lets be friends, lets enjoy Kodi :)

Thanks! I made them myself, since I didn’t like the older ones. I’m glad you like them.

I sent the new version of the skin to the official repo some days ago, so hopefully it shouldn’t take much longer till it’s available to everyone…

The log doesn't say much. I see you have installed script.skin.helper.service which doesn't have an official version for Matrix yet and hence must be a WIP prone to crashes. It also would be interesting to know if it's been an occasional crash or if it kept crashing afterwards.

When playing a movie, if you pause (using space bar) the movie and come back later and un pause it goes to the view list instead of resuming the movie. It also forgets that subtitles were selected.

edit: I cannot reproduce this error again

edit 2: From the main menu, movies, in progress....  Once you select the movie and press play, you pause using the space bar, wait until the "you're watching" popup goes dim. Press the space bar to restart playing and it takes you to the view look you are using.

In Nox 5 if you follow all the steps, after the "you're watching" dims you can press the space bar and it takes you to the pause screen. You press space bar again and it plays the movie.

I hope this helps

Manfeed:

I installed Leia tajo and this issue doesn't exist.

Basically if you are watching a movie and press pause, you wait 180 seconds and the screen fades. If you want to continue to watch the movie you press the space bar, matrix tajo does not focus the screen first as it does with leia tajo. In Leia, you press once to focus and again to continue playing.

Thanks

I haven’t changed anything about that in the Matrix version… You say that after 180 seconds the screen fades, but that’s not compulsory, you must have set the screensaver that way. In my case I have the screensaver disabled and have no issue at all. I don’t know if Kodi Matrix has made any change in the behaviour of the screensavers that is causing your issue…

I wish I could better describe the issue, behavior changed 5/18/21, I've looked at the changes between both version below but can't figure it out:

It works with this version 4.1.0: https://github.com/manfeed/skin.aeon.taj...01b6b19a35

and doesn't with 4.1.2: https://github.com/manfeed/skin.aeon.taj...09109fa5fe

Ok, now I understood. I hadn't experienced that before because I hate screensavers and never activate them, but when I did to check your findings I could finally reproduce the issue. Your work finding the version that started the issue has saved me a lot of time, thanks!

Aeon Tajo offers so many options that it's nearly impossible to check all possible combinations, and sometimes an option conflicts with another one.

Hopefully it's already fixed in the latest version already available in Github.

I kept looking and think the issue was with the language folder.

Hi @manfeed.
I found my mistake in the font and have already fixed it. Please replace the font with the corrected version - Quicksand.ttf.
Thanks.

Hi @manfeed

I really like your skin, a small problem I have now is I cannot get Logos for all my TrueHD Atmos movies/shows and also not for the DDPlus Atmos ones.
What I get shown is always TrueHD for the TrueHD Atmos versions and nothing for the DDPLus Atmos versions.
Do you have any plans to support this?
My folders and files are named truehd.atmos and ddplus.atmos accordingly.

Thanks!

Hi @chester24,

This is a known issue, nothing wrong with your settings. Aeon Tajo does not pick Atmos flags from the file name, this must be scrapped by KODI when adding the movie. It appears that it is KODI/Scraper that adds TrueHD and ignores Atmos. For dolby digital plus, my scraper can pick "EAC3" from file name, I have never tested with "DDPLus", there is a chance it will ignore that.

Solution.
1st, test by replacing DDPLus with EAC3 in the file name, see if the scrapers can pick it up, this way, the skin should show DD plus flag.
2nd, are you using NFO files? The only way I know of adding Atmos flag is editing NFO file. This method was recommended to me by manfeed.
Open the movie nfo file, under stream details edit the audio streams. Currently it should show truehd only, just add atmos, like so. I prefer Atmos comes first. Number of channels and language is same as truehd since its the same audio stream.
xml:

            <audio>
                <codec>atmos</codec>
                <language>eng</language>
                <channels>8</channels>
            </audio>
            <audio>
                <codec>truehd</codec>
                <language>eng</language>
                <channels>8</channels>
            </audio>

Now when your rescrap (Refresh) this movie, the scrapper should pick Atmos from NFO and not the file name and the skin will show the flag. If you have many Atmos movies, this is going to be quite some work.

Hi @TimeZone

thanks for your reply. While I appreciate it I won't mess up my correct .NFOs for KODIs "wrong" behavior. I handle everything from .NFOs. Also all pictures and everything else is done before Kodi even gets its hands on it. I do not use any online scraper in Kodi, just the local one.
Here are my thoughts on that :
a) I think you misunderstood the DDPlus thing. DDPlus is correctly mentioned/scraped in Kodi. This is with eac3 in the info files. But this does not apply to DDPlus with Dolby Atmos. If this what you proposed works then it is wrongly implemented in Kodi in every possible way. As Atmos is no codec. That is what I mean I won't mess up my correct .NFOs with a "codec" that is simply not existing. DDPlus with Dolby Atmos is EAC3 codec, exactly like DDPlus without Atmos. Difference lies in the format and also it is mentioned in the "Commercial name", but the codec is no different.
b) The very same is true for TrueHD, Atmos is no Codec, it is an extension on TrueHD. TrueHD Atmos, like DDPLus Atmos, codec is simply TRUEHD.

So if it is implemented in Kodi that Atmos is scraped as a codec then a bug report should be opened on that. Because with Atmos as a "codec" no one would know if it is actually TrueHD with Atmos or DDPlus with Atmos.
Then, if at all, Kodi should be able to scrape eac3_atmos (eac3.atmos) or truehd_atmos (truehd.atmos) because this would be the only thing that comes close to the reality and how Atmos is implemented in the audio streams. You cannot scrape a codec that is not existing, nor put it in a .NFO file (from my point of view).

While I have way over 150 files with Atmos I would write a python script for it, but it would be simply wrong.

So, can you tell me where this should be posted so Kodi development takes note of it?

Many thanks
