hi @rmrector. at first thank you for your kodi "stuff". i'm happy that the addon is now vegan 


I saw several people posting the same issue that i am faced with.

For Example: I add/scrape one episode to the library. After adding, AD seems to run a scan of the whole library instead of just adding the artwork for that single file.

Is this just the way the addon works? Then I'm fine with that behavior.

But If i can lower the load by optimizing it, i'd be glad if there is a solution to do so.

btw: The scraping process is automatically started by "Library Watchdog Addon", as i place the file(episode) into the destination folder.
While im writing this i got one idea to add here: I didn't try to add/scrape it manually and can't say if there is a difference. i'm at work now, cant try it.

Artwork Dump runs after a library update to check for new artwork if you configure it to. It has to look for changes, but it shouldn't actually be updating anything unless there is a change.

A log never harms the situation.

I will definitely try to provide a log before Wednesday because I have hand surgery and can't do much with just my left hand. Anyway, even if no new files are added, it's always processing artwork after I do a library scan. When that happens, the movie or episode we're watching just stutters, and the HD light is just flickering like crazy. Also, when we're done watching tv show episodes for the night, it is stuck on scanning my 1st TV show "72 Dangerous Animals: Latin America" and it doesn't go away.

Here is something you can try, to be sure that your system runs clean.

For me it sounds like your database is maybe damaged. Did you try to delete your database?

At First deactivate artwork dump and any addon that Updates the library if you use anything like that.

Delete:
userdata/database/MyVideos119.db and
userdata/database/Textures13.db and
userdata/thumbnails (whole folder)

Your sources will remain. Just Reboot after deleting that files. Try to Clean your library. If nothing happens as you try to clean, you're good. Set the scraper for each source again. Run a complete library scan. Wait till it's finished. Activate artwork dump. Open it, click add artwork for all videos. Wait till it's finished.

Done. Now you can be almost sure your kodi system is not the problem, if the problem remains. Then Maybe your system (SoC) isn't fully compatible to kodi 19 (python3)?

The log will show what's wrong. But cleaning your database once like I described will be good for your filesystem anyway. I did it too today cause of some scraping problems. Now it's all fine. Artwork dump works together with the scraper you are using. The scraper is working together with the database. So its all connected. You should give it a try maybe.

Funny you mentioned that. Truth be told. I did all of what you recommended. It also took me a total of 4 days to scan 4000 movies, 650 TV Shows and 5000 music albums to Kodi Matrix, so I don't want to do that again. I actually did what you suggested twice, and it is always the same results. I experienced something similar with Leia and Library Watchdog, where it constantly scanned the library over and over, so I had to stop using Watchdog.

One thing I also noticed is that AD did not add all the thumb images for my episodes. The only way it adds it, is I have to go "Remove TV show from Library", go to Videos > Files and re-scan it into the library. Only then AD downloads all the episode thumbs. I actually noticed this when I started going in to my TV Shows and seeing no episode images, unless I just leave it open, it eventually populates with all the thumbs, so what I started doing is using TMM to add all my artwork to all my ENDED TV series. This way the library loads faster. Anyway, I am just rambling on and on. I will probably give your suggestion another try again and will report back.

The scan should be much quicker as the scraper hasnt to Download All the Covers and fanarts again.

Btw AD is not downloading any discart, but I selected it in the custom settings wich artwork types to Download.

In kodi leia, artwork beef downloaded the discart from the Extertal source fanart.tv.

AD just Downloads the artwork provided by the scraper, in my case ThemovieDatabase.com. on that source there is no discart for Example for the movie Arrival (2016). So its no Wonder that no discart is downloaded. So I dont know how to get any discart downloaded automatically.

Where is the content of your library located? if u had that Problem before, then Maybe your System has no Permission to write the Artwork to the Destination (NAS/Samba/External Database) Path?

just an idea coz u had that Problem in leia too. If that is not the case then the guys here are curious for your log i think ^^

create a user with password on the NFS device. add that share as source to kodi with that username and Password that has permission to write into it. kodi will have permission to write the files then. By Default, the artwork is saved in the directory of the movie/series. kodi works best when you Keep it like that.

Every artwork is preloaded in Kodis Cache (you Need enough disk-space for that on your kodi device). I use that Option. it takes About 6 Gigabytes for my library artwork to preload. everything is already loaded before you Need it. i love it.

On these shares I use MKLINK, so within Shares1 (Movies1) I have Movies1 to Movies12, plus TV1 to TV11. On Shares2 (Movies2) I have Movies13-Movies15. TV_Movies1-TV_Movies3 and TV12-TV16. These are all shared on Windows. They are full accessible because the permissions are set to "Everyone".

Dont know anything about mlink. Dont know the pros and cons of it. Maybe this mlink is the Sand in the gearbox like we use to say.

The remote source in kodi you add could need user+pw anyway. like in case of samba Linux shares. Remeber its Windows. Anything can happen. In some cases you need user+pw, even if u Set up the share as public, like on my raspberry. Otherwise it will create Problems in some cases even it makes no sense to you now. Maybe mlink is one of those cases?

Like, for camparison, a static ip vs. dhcp in a home network.
DHCP works fine. But during some Actions... it will only work with a static ip.

Just try it with an additional test share maybe. You could create a shared folder (+user+pw) containing an empty *.txt text file. Replace the *.txt with *.strm extension to to a Quick test. Kodi will be able to scrape that file and you can check what AD does without touching your other files.

It won't be that. It has been my configuration on Helix, all the way to Matrix. I never had any issues with Helix. It just worked.

I still use name + password on all my Windows systems. Also, mklink is just creating symbolic link, so that wouldn't be the problem either.

I know what you mean. All of my IP addresses are static as well.

I honestly think I need a new system. Matrix started off ok when I just installed it with a little over 100 movies and a few TV Shows. I get constant crashes, and lockups just like Jarvis and Krypton used to do. BTW: I also tried my setup on just using Windows shares, as well as a few HD's right off my LE box, and I still had the same issues. I will do some more testing tomorrow by switching off Library Watchdog and see what happens.

Hi All

I just used this addon on my HTPC which hosts all my media, and its worked great.

I was wondering however how this interacts with mysql library? My HTPC runs a mysql library which my Nvidia shield upstairs uses for its Kodi installation.

Do I have to run this addon on the shield?
Do I have to set the movie sets art folder on the shield?
Etc?
