@MsKlywenn yesterday VAAPI libraries (libva and friends) got updated. Can you try updating your system?

Blindly testing is not really something I'd like to continue doing considering the risk to the machine and the data. Since the crash already happened while not playing a video, I don't think any update to VAAPI/libva would help. Or does kodi use it constantly even while not playing a video?

I'm running kodi on an xbox one now, anyway.

Hi! New to bullseye and kodi19.  This old Dell Inspiron 1720 with intel i915 chip used to run buster and kodi 17 something just fine, until the HD crashed. 

A new SSD, a fresh install of Bullseye (Kernel: Linux 5.10.0-9-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 5.10.70-1 (2021-09-30)), install of Kodi (19.1 Debian package version: 2:19.1+dfsg2-2)), and Kodi won't fire up.  A small window flashes up then disappears.  If I start from the command line, I get:

Seems similar to an issue MsKlywenn had just a few weeks back...  I know the hardware can work, at least with buster and an older kodi.

Thanks, @basilgello.  In the meantime, I loaded buster and kodi 17 thru the package manager.  Had one flip_done time out issue, but once I found the grub work around for that, I'm running again.  Willing to partition and dual boot bullseye to test a fix if this bug ever moves along.  LMK.

Question from a newbie: What is the trick required to get access to Kodi's "normal" addon list?

Personally, I am looking for videos add-ons like Youtube and German TV repositories such as ZDF Mediathek. However, after a fresh Kodi install, the addon browser is empty. Enabling Settings->System->Add-ons->Unknown Sources doesn't help. I have not found any other relevant-looking setting.

My OS is Antix 21, which is based on Debian Bullseye and can install from Debian repos.

Official repository in terms of Kodi means the one hosted at https://mirrors.kodi.tv It is bundled with Kodi and is part of Kodi from Debian (package kodi-repository-kodi). If you dont see any addon to install, make sure you have kodi-repository-kodi package installed:

apt policy kodi-repository-kodi

If it is not installed, install it and restart Kodi.

Now you tell me you want to install official repository for German TV channels. While German TV provider might have official addon repository, it is still considered unofficial from Kodi standpoint if the addon is not included in Kodi official repo.

That package is in Recommends so APT will install kodi-repository-kodi unless you installed Kodi omitting recommended packages:

apt-get install --no-install-recommends kodi

I think I will edit Wiki next week when I push 19.3 to bullseye-backports and buster-backports-sloppy. This will become an approved way to get latest versions of Kodi within Debian in a timely manner. Unfortunately, direct push into bullseye-updates and buster-backports is too long and unpredictable process to ensure timely delivery.

I see! Obviously, Antix disables automatic recommends:

Sure, Antix is not exactly the same as Debian. I don't know if Debian is different.

I recently install Debian Buster on my Raspberry Pi 3B+, after run update and upgrade I have installed kodi, but he won't load, and if I run into the terminal, I have error to connect server and jack server not loaded blah blah blah...
Is possible to fix ?

The Pi section is more for Pi-specific issues on dedicated distributions like LibreElec, OSMC and RaspiOS.

Hopefully @basilgello , our Debian support expert can give some inputs or advice.
