Had to reset my firetv box, so re-installing add-ons fresh. Can't get youtube to work because it refuses to save my keys. Is there a hidden setting somewhere or something I have to do to get the addon to sake the google api keys??

Open .kodi/userdata/addon_data/plugin.video.youtube/api_keys.json with notepad or other text editor. Inside you can save the keys.

I have had this problem too, some time ago. I was able to solve it by deleting all channells which were missing and afterwords I subscribed to them again on youtube. And all of them were shown again in the youtube app.
I hope I could help.

It works if I remove all my subscriptions with the YouTube app and then I add them again with the addon, but it doesn't work if I add them with the YouTube app. In my case, I'm using SmartTube Next on my Shield TV as the YouTube app. Thanks anyway.

New add-on problem this morning... it was working fine last night. I have Kodi 19.3 installed on two FireTV Edition TV sets (a year old Insignia 4K and a brand new Amazon FireTV set) and this morning both YouTube add-on installations were logged out when I tried to get my subscription list. Attempting to re-log in generates the error "LoginException: [400] invalid_token" from Kodi. Anybody else seeing this? I have the 6.8.18+matrix.1 add-on version installed.

UPDATE: Seems to be working again.

I don't know how it's possible but apparently i can access to this Youtuber Channel........... this is how it's appears in the kodi.log:

For try to reach it i do a search whit his name...... i obtain the error say to check kodi.log if try to access to his channel also from "Contextual menu" "Go To xxxx" and also if i try to access to channel by "Channel" search result.

It's possible because it's channel name contain the "°"

Do you guys access to shared playlists with the youtube plugin?
Shared playlist appear in library with the ios or android app. They are like my own playlists, same place.
But they are not retrieved by the kodi youtube plugin.
Is there a trick to get shared playlist with the plugin ?

Artwork question/suggestion

I notice that for video items, the ListItem.Art(fanart) is set to the youtube icon, and ListItem.Icon is set to a 16:9 (typical) art from the video.  This makes for some skinning difficulty, as ListItem.Art(fanart) is assumed to be 16:9 aspect for display in skin.  I see the art setting toggles between hqdefault.jpg and mqdefault.jpg.  Any possibility of getting maxresdefault.jpg?  At any rate, I think it would be helpful for skinning to set ListItem.Art(fanart) to the channel/video thumbnail.

I had been using the alpha version with broken subtitles and finally decided to update via the official Kodi repo to 6.8.18.

After updating.....it required me to login twice (which I have successfully done in the past versions)....but this time after the second sign in.....I got the following warning from Google.

That's normal for unverified apps, just click the advanced link and you should be able to continue.

I'm not sure when this was added, I think I saw it first earlier this year. Google loves to change stuff so if somebody is following a guide there is almost always something different.

Hi all,

I'm using 6.8.18 from the unofficial test repo on Kodi 19.3. Since re-installing the add-on following all the buffering issues a couple of months ago I can't get the default Kodi "Viewtype" to stick. I want it to default to "Wall" or "InfoWall" but whenever I select that and watch a video or leave the plugin, it returns back to "WideList".

I only ever use "My Subscriptions" from the GUI, otherwise I play videos by using the "Play on Kodi" feature from Kore/NewPipe.

A couple of years ago I ran into the same problem on Kodi 18 on Libreelec. I managed to solve it but I can't remember nor find how I did it!

Any help would be appreciated.

Is there an update planned for python 3.10?  If one attempts to run the plugin on a system running python 3.10.1, it crashes.
